Arsenal unveil new adidas home kit dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Invincibles season

Arsenal reveal new adidas home kit to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Gunners’ famous Invincibles season in a campaign led by star player Bukayo Saka

  • The Gunners will pay tribute to the record season under Arsène Wenger
  • In contrast to this season’s red-heavy style, the kit features gold and white
  • But Beth Mead and Gio Quieroz accidentally leaked the draft earlier this week

Arsenal have revealed their home kit for the 2023-2024 season in a campaign led by a range of stars including Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale and Leah Williamson.

The new strip has been designed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the famous Invincibles season in which the Gunners failed to lose a game under manager Arsene Wenger in their pursuit of the Premier League title.

The shirt features a faint lightning bolt pattern and the sleeves and club badge have been updated with gold detailing to commemorate the championship winning performance.

White shorts with gold trim and white socks complement the strip, which looks distinctly different from this season’s kit.

Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Ben White all wore the new red kit, while Aaron Ramsdale posed in a black goalkeeper jersey with a diamond print and white accents.

Leah Williamson, the injured women’s captain, also posed for a portrait in the campaign, no doubt eager to get back into the kit as she undergoes a spell on the touchline after tearing her cruciate ligament in late April.

Ahead of Friday’s launch, the new kit design was accidentally leaked by Beth Mead and Gio Querioz, who posed for a photo during the photoshoot Querioz posted to her Instagram account.

Alongside the photos, the club released a video fronted by Saka, who recently gave fans a boost after signing a new long-term contract to stay at the Emirates until 2027.

The new deal will catapult the 21-year-old up the league table and make him one of North London’s top-earning clubs, with weekly wages in excess of £300,000.

The confirmation of the England ace’s future at Arsenal – and that of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who signed a new contract with the club last week – comes on the heels of a limp end to Mikel Arteta’s blistering season.

The second-placed side’s title fight came to an abrupt end in the face of debilitating Manchester City dominance and a run of lackluster results against Southampton, West Ham and Nottingham Forest in the final weeks of their campaign.

In the video shared on the club’s social media accounts, Saka can be seen wearing the new strip amidst a crowd of fans gathered in a stand at the Emirates before being roundly cheered.

On the day of filming, Saka thanked the fans and told the assembled supporters: “I always appreciate your love,” before adding that he would see them on Sunday, when Arsenal take on Wolves in the final game of the season.

Although the title has slipped from their hands, the Gunners will be able to celebrate their return to Champions League football for the first time in six years on Sunday.

The club’s fortunes were given a helping hand on Monday after Juventus’ points deduction ruled them out of qualifying, subsequently pushing Arsenal down the coefficient rankings.

The shift should go in the side’s favor ahead of the group stage draw for next season’s competition on August 31.
