Arsenal are in further talks about a move for Real Valladolid right-back Iván Fresneda and could pay out the 18-year-old’s £8.8m release clause as Mikel Arteta looks to add more depth to his title-chasing team.

Arsenal will hold further talks this week with Real Valladolid right-back Iván Fresneda’s agent.

The Gunners have returned to pole position for the 18-year-old who has a release clause set at £8.8m. Newcastle United tried to sign the teenager last week, but he has now reverted to West Ham right-back 21-year-old Harrison Ashby.

Fresneda was left out of Valladolid’s starting lineup on Saturday as they lost to Atletico Madrid and has several clubs showing interest.

Arsenal are set for further talks regarding the signing of right-back Ivan Fresneda.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta wants to add more depth to his squad as they keep up their drive to win the Premier League.

Arsenal want to cover with Cedric Soares who is expected to join Fulham.

Ben White has made the right-back position his own this season, but Takehiro Tomiyasu has struggled with injury and Mikel Arteta wants more depth in his squad if they are to keep their title.

Leandro Trossard has already joined from Brighton, and Jakub Kiwior recently completed his £20m move from Spazia.

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out the possibility of Eduardo Camavinga leaving Real Madrid amid tentative interest from Arsenal. Ancelotti said: ‘We will not let Camavinga go, he is untouchable, like Kroos and Modric.’

A move is possible in the summer, but Camavinga has proven vital to Ancelotti and has only recently joined the club.

Arsenal could turn their intent to other midfield targets, but it is unclear if more signings will be made this month as the final week of the transfer window approaches.
