Arsenal make an improved £100 million bid for Declan Rice after West Ham rejected their first bid.

The Gunners have seen their original bid, worth £90 million, for the Hammers skipper rejected, but a new package is imminent.

The rejected offer was worth £80 million plus an additional £10 million in performance-related add-ons.

The new offer is expected to guarantee West Ham £90 million plus additional payments bringing the total deal to £100 million.

However, sources claimed on Thursday that the overall value of the bid is not the only remaining issue to be resolved before Rice can complete his move to the Emirates.

Mail sports last week it emerged that West Ham wanted to pay the guaranteed share of the money for Rice in two installments before 2025.

It is clear that the payment structure Arsenal have proposed does not suit West Ham, with The Gunners wanting to pay the money over a longer period of time.

It is also clear that Arsenal are prepared to give West Ham a first refusal on departing players later this summer. The Hammers have shown interest in Eddie Nketiah in the past.

While Arsenal are confident they will secure a deal for No. 1 target Rice, their urgency to secure a deal has accelerated as Manchester City emerged as interested in the England midfielder and are considering a bid.

Sources have indicated that City’s interest is not as advanced as Arsenal’s. Manchester United and Chelsea also have an interest in Rice.

The growing interest in the midfielder will benefit West Ham chairman David Sullivan, who is looking to spark a bidding war for his prized assets. But Arsenal believe the 24-year-old’s preference is to join them.
