Arsenal make an improved £41.5m offer for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber with the Gunners close to reaching a personal deal with the Holland international

Arsenal have made an improved bid of £41.5 million for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.

Mail Sport reported on Monday morning that the Gunners were close to agreeing personal terms with Timber that would see the Holland international earn a minimum of £90,000 a week, which could rise to around £120,000 a week with performance-related add-ons.

And after Ajax rejected their original offer of £30 million, the Premier League side are now back with a new offer worth just over £40 million.

Ajax are said to value Timber at £50 million, but Arsenal are hoping their move to the 22-year-old defender will come to a positive end in the coming days.

The Holland International are eager to join Arsenal and the move is expected to be finalized soon once the two clubs have agreed a deal.

Arsenal are also in talks with West Ham over a move for their number 1 transfer target Rice.

The Gunners have already turned down two offers, the latest worth £90 million, for Rice.

Their third offer will be closer to the £100 million the Hammers are looking for. It is relevant that Rice is eager to join Arsenal, despite interest from Manchester City.
