Arsenal have made a £20million bid for Brazilian midfielder Danilo, according to reports.

The Palmeiras star is being eyed by Mikel Arteta’s side as the Gunners look to add a midfielder before the transfer window closes on Thursday evening.

And Goal Brazil claim that Arsenal made the offer for the 21-year-old on Tuesday, although it is expected to be rejected by the Palmeiras hierarchy.

The Brazilian side’s president Leila Pereira is reportedly holding out for the midfielder’s £86m release clause.

Arteta is keen to bring in midfield reinforcements after Mohamed Elneny sustained a long-term hamstring injury in Saturday’s 2-1 win against Fulham.

His injury adds to a worsening situation at Arsenal, with Ghana international Thomas Partey also expected to miss a couple of weeks with his thigh problem, according to football.london.

It leaves only Albert Sambi Lokonga – who has played just three minutes so far this term – and Ainsley Maitland-Niles – who has been linked with a move to Southampton – as natural partners for Granit Xhaka in midfield.

The Gunners reportedly considered a move for Lucas Paqueta before the Brazilian joined West Ham this week.

Danilo has played 128 times for Palmeiras since making his debut in 2020, adding 12 goals and nine assists from primarily a defensive midfield role.

He is also attracting interest from AC Milan. Danilo is yet to make his full Brazilian debut although he was called up to their squad for the June international friendlies.

The Gunners have also been linked with a late move for Ukranian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Shakhtar Donetsk star has attracted interest from a whole host of clubs and journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: ‘Keep an eye on top talent Mykhaylo Mudryk. Everton had €30m verbal proposal turned down by Shakhtar Donetsk last week. Arsenal have explored conditions of Mudryk deal few days ago — but just on player side. Many clubs want him, one to watch until the end.’
