Arsenal fear Gabriel Jesus is out for the rest of the SEASON with a serious knee injury suffered in FA Cup defeat by Man United
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is set to face a lengthy layoff after suffering a serious knee injury in the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.
The Brazilian was forced off the field on a stretcher after colliding with Bruno Fernandes towards the end of the first half of the Gunners’ third-round tie.
Jesus will undergo further tests on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury, but there are already fears he has suffered cartilage or ligament damage to his knee.
He is likely to miss the rest of the season due to another injury to Mikel Arteta, who is already without talisman Bukayo Saka.
“Big concerns, that’s my feeling,” Arteta said when asked about the striker’s injury after Sunday’s defeat at the Emirates.
‘He had to get on a stretcher in a lot of pain, touching his knee. It doesn’t look good. I think it’s the other one [and not the knee he injured at the 2022 World Cup].
“But the worrying factor is more the feeling he had when he had to come off, and the pain he was in.”
Jesus’ injury leaves Arsenal with just one fit striker, while Kai Havertz will continue to play a key role in the side.
