The 33-year-old made his fourth start in the Seagull’s last six games, top-of-the-table against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

And the former England international left Liverpool shocked inside 90 seconds when he found the top corner after Virgil van Dijk failed to properly clear his lines.

And Arsenal fans praised Welbeck on social media for damaging the Reds’ title hopes as their side tried to win their first league title in 20 years.

Liverpool equalized just before the half-hour mark through Diaz, who fired the ball home for his seventh Premier League goal of the season.

A win for Liverpool will send them to the top of the table ahead of the showdown between Arsenal and Manchester City.
