Arsenal fans have shown little sympathy for Rodri after rumours he could be out for the rest of the season, pointing to a foul the City man committed on Martin Odegaard last year.
Rodri had to be substituted in the first half of Arsenal’s thrilling 2-2 draw with City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday after going down on his knee following a battle for the ball with Thomas Partey.
And he could be ‘out for the rest of the season’ after reports emerged in Spain that the midfielder had suffered a ‘torn cruciate ligament in his right knee’.
According to BRANDthe City midfielder ‘suffered a cruciate ligament tear’ during the match. They claim a ‘more definitive diagnosis’ will be available later on Monday, with the midfielder ‘undergoing tests in Spain’.
Rodri is one of City’s most important players and many consider him the best holding midfielder in the world.

If the reports are true, it will undoubtedly boost Arsenal’s title hopes. Arsenal fans believe it is karma after the foul he committed on their captain earlier last year.
Rodri left Odegaard in mortal fear with a crushing foul during Spain’s 3-0 win over Norway in the 2024 European Championship qualifier at La Rosaleda Stadium in Malaga.
Rodri fired the ball hard into the net as the Norwegian was aiming at goal in the penalty area and hit it high. Many onlookers called it a ‘legbreaker’ but Odegaard eventually walked away without serious injury.
The clip went viral on social media on Monday, following the news about Rodri.
“I have zero empathy for Rodri after that disgusting tackle he made on Martin Odegaard during last season’s title race when he was an international,” wrote one Arsenal fan on X. “Karma never misses a speech.”
Another posted: ‘Rodri is trying to end Odegaard’s career during the international break in the middle of the title race. And yet they call us dirty and we don’t do anything about it.’
