Mikel Arteta has provided an update on Bukayo Saka’s condition after he limped out of Arsenal’s goalless draw against Manchester City on Sunday.

The winger limped off late at the Etihad Stadium after struggling to get into the game for a long time.

It was his first game since withdrawing from the England squad that played Brazil and Belgium last week, and he raised further concerns about his fitness ahead of the title clash.

Arteta revealed Saka is not a major concern for Arsenal’s home game against Luton on Wednesday night, but refused to confirm whether he will be ready to start.

‘He’s okay. We didn’t train, just recovery,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

‘We have a short lighting session to prepare for the competition. We’ll see if he’s in the best condition to start the match or not.”

Saka now faces a race against time to prove his fitness, but the Gunners will hope to have him available for the 22-year-old after another fine season.

He has featured in all but one of Arsenal’s league matches this season, scoring 13 goals and registering eight assists in the top flight.

The England star was also directly involved in seven goals in seven games for Arsenal in the Champions League, helping his side reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 2010.
