The North London derby lived up to its reputation as the fiercest rivalry in the top flight as the two sets of players were separated in the first half.

The first half of the match between Arsenal and Tottenham saw the most yellow cards ever handed out in the Premier League.

One of those was when Jurrien Timber appeared to go over the ball when challenging Pedro Porro.

Replays showed that there was nothing wrong and the referee quickly gave Timber a yellow card.

And the referee had to deal with even more when the pushing and shoving started, with almost everyone getting involved.

Arsenal and Tottenham players clashed during Sunday’s North London derby

It started when Vicario pounced on Timber, who responded by grabbing the Tottenham player’s shirt and staring at him.

Fortunately, neither player went too far in the fight and VAR ruled that no further action was necessary.

The first half was otherwise uneventful, apart from the fact that Gabriel Martinelli missed the best chance when he was brought in from the left.
