Arrest warrant issued for unknown suspect who beat to death a Maryland father while trying to protect his son

Police have reportedly issued arrest warrants for unknown suspects in the murder of 43-year-old father Christopher Wright are out Maryland home, facing his teenage son’s bullies head-on.

The suspects could be arrested and charged sometime this week, a source told the New York Post.

Another source close to the investigation said authorities were hesitant to charge the suspects because the father-of-three struck the first blow.

The names of the suspects, or the number of possible charges, have not been released.

Disturbing video captured the brutal May incident, which shows Wright being slammed to the ground and repeatedly hit in the head – resulting in a fatal brain injury – while his son Trenton, 14, watches helplessly.

Anne Arundel County Police Department said earlier this week that no arrests have been made, though reports say Wright’s family has identified some of those involved.

Tracy Karopchinsky, Wright’s fiancée, said the fight took place on May 19 when students from the same high school as their 14-year-old son, Trenton, came to fight him for more than $30.

She said three teenagers and two adults showed up at their house, and one of the adults said if Trenton wasn’t going to fight, his dad should.

Disturbing videos showed Wright being slammed to the ground and repeatedly hit in the head as his son looked on helplessly.

He suffered a traumatic brain injury and died a day later.

In a clip of the attack, the attackers meet the father in a standoff – as Wright, dressed in a white T-shirt, speaks and points to the left.

Wright exchanged words with the group on his front lawn – before punching a man in a black T-shirt.

The father then retreated and headed for his home as the swarm of attackers pushed forward and began beating him.

Seconds later, the man in the black T-shirt slammed Wright to the ground between two vehicles and launched a tirade of punches at his head as he lay motionless on the road.

Tracy Karopchinsky, Wright's fiancée, said the fight happened when students from the same high school as their 14-year-old son, Trenton, wanted to fight him for $30.

Another brawl broke out on the sidewalk, but the identities of those people remain unclear.

It wasn’t until another person checked on Wright – who was still lying unconscious on the tarmac – that the group realized he wasn’t moving.

They were then seen with someone screaming in the background and another yelling repeatedly, “What the f**k.”

Two more people in the group went to check on Wright again, seemingly examining his head, before the rest ran back to their vehicle and fled the scene.

The attackers told his younger 12-year-old son who witnessed the ordeal, “I’m sorry, call 911,” DailyMail.com previously revealed.

Photos revealed that remnants of Wright’s blood still stained the ground outside the family’s home, despite neighbors’ best efforts to clean it up before Kaporchinsky returned from work.

Karopchinsky didn’t seem surprised when she watched the footage, while the police already knew that Wright struck the first blow.

However, she insists that if the perpetrators had not come to their house to look for trouble, the tragic incident would never have happened.

“It was never a secret that Chris threw the first punch. Homicide detectives knew Chris threw the first punch,” she said The New York Post. ‘If [Wright’s killers] didn’t come to our house to pick a fight, this would never have happened.’

She also told how his three boys went to say goodbye to him in the hospital while he was in a coma.

“I told the boys to go to the hospital,” she said The mail. “I had the boys go in and talk to him and tell him they loved him. He had no brain function at that time.’

“I just wanted the boys to be able to talk to him, tell him they loved him and see him later. It was heavy.’

“I spent all day Saturday in bed with my fiancé and I held his hands,” she said.

Karopchinsky was at work when the fight took place. Her neighbor called her manager to let her know what had happened.

“I got on the phone and she said, ‘Chris has been in a fight, he’s been beaten up, it was really bad,'” she said. “I had some kind of panic attack, I couldn’t breathe. I was terrified.’

Wright was taken to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery on his brain.

“He had severe brain damage,” Karopchinsky explained. The operation took about three and a half hours. By the time I was brought to him, his severe brain injury had turned into a catastrophic brain injury.

“After the surgery, they were constantly doing CAT scans and they had stopped some bleeding in the brain, but then they saw he had a stroke and had a brain hemorrhage that they couldn’t do anything about.”

“I went home to talk to the boys. I told them, “It’s very bad.” Teenage boys didn’t really understand what ‘very much’ meant.’

Chris, the father of Tryston, Trenton and Tevin, has already been cremated and the family plans to celebrate his life at a memorial service on June 11.

Neighbor Richard Balsamo, 58, said: ‘Chris was a good guy. He didn’t bother anyone. He stayed on his porch, he took care of his garden, he took care of his children. For someone to come here and take him away from his girlfriend and his kids is ridiculous and wrong and something needs to be done.

“It has shocked the neighbourhood. He’s a very good guy and very good to his children.’

a GoFundMe was set up by his sister-in-law Kristin Karopchinsky who explained that Wright had gone out to defend his threatened son Trenton.

Marc Limansky, Anne Arundel County police spokesman, said: “Anyone who assisted or is an accomplice to the prime suspect or prime suspect is guilty.”
