Arrest warrant for ‘celebrity stalker’ who claimed he was married to news reader Peter Hitchener

An arrest warrant has been issued for a notorious celeb chaser who was allegedly involved in an ugly opening night clash with entertainer Rhonda Burchmore and bizarrely claimed he was married to beloved Melbourne newsreader Peter Hitchener.

Kodei James Mulcahy, 22, of Werribee, was scheduled to appear before the Werribee Magistrates Court on 26 unrelated charges of stalking and assault on Thursday, but failed to show up.

The serial pest, who Daily Mail Australia revealed has been chasing celebrities since he was a child, had been due in court over three separate matters, one of which he had been placed on bail over.

Magistrate Jennifer Grubissa ordered Mulcahy’s bail be immediately revoked and issued three warrants for his immediate arrest.

The court heard Mulcahy had emailed the court on Wednesday telling it he couldn’t attend his hearing due to supposed work commitments.

Ms Grubissa noted Mulcahy refused to appear in court despite being warned by the court registrar that a warrant would likely be issued for his arrest if he failed to appear.

The full extent of Mulcahy’s alleged offending remains unknown, with the magistrate refusing to grant Daily Mail Australia access to court documents.

What is known is that Mulcahy faces a series of ‘indictable offences’, which can carry terms of imprisonment upon conviction.

Daily Mail Australia revealed last month Mulcahy claimed to have married and then divorced Hitchener.

An Instagram page in which Mulcahy posed under the name ‘Kodei Hitchener’ has since been closed.

Channel Nine insiders have told Daily Mail Australia that Mulcahy’s claims about Hitchener are completely false.

‘They’re a figment of his imagination,’ the source said.

Mulcahy, who ran for a spot on Wyndham Council in 2020, told Daily Mail Australia then that he could not speak about his supposed marriage to Hitchener after making a deal with Channel Nine not to.

‘I maintain what I post on my Instagram,’ he said.

Mulcahy claimed he was unaware of his pending matters listed at the Werribee Magistrates’ Court.

‘I have no knowledge about that,’ he said at the time.

Mulcahy dismissed suggestions he was a celebrity pest.

‘If celebrities are scared of me and I’m such a stalker, why are people contacting me to help them with their social media pages?’ he said.

‘I have constant contact with a lot of celebrities. I don’t go along and stalk them. I’m invited to shows exactly like them.’

As a teen, Mulcahy was embroiled in a scandal involving the theft of Real Housewives Of Melbourne star Gamble Breaux’s $25,000 Logies dress.

A 32-year old Manor Lake’s man known to Mulcahy was eventually charged over the crime.

Burchmore reported Mulcahy to police last month after a run-in with him at Melbourne’s Arts Centre.

Burchmore had been attending the premiere of 9 To 5 The Musical with her husband when Mulcahy allegedly approached her outside the venue.

Daily Mail Australia has been told Mulcahy left with his tail between his legs after Burchmore told him to leave her alone.

Mulcahy maintains that he had been friends with the theatre star until recently.

He hit Instagram, where he has a following of just 620 people, to allege Burchmore was the aggressor.

He further took aim at a Herald Sun reporter, who had been talking to Burchmore when he approached.

‘There is the full story that you stood there and watched and allowed someone to assault someone,’ he claimed via social media.

Mulcahy followed up on Tuesday night in an extraordinary rant that tagged Burchmore’s own daughter – journalist Lexie Jeuniewic.

Burchmore, who is appearing in the Tony Award winning Broadway production of Hairspray, told Daily Mail Australia she had already reported Mulcahy to Victoria Police about the ugly confrontation.

‘I’m deeply upset about this matter and have made a police report on Sunday. I’ve left the matter in their hands now and hopefully this will stop this absolute psychopath,’ she said.

Mulcahy will return to court upon his arrest.
