A man has been arrested in dramatic scenes after allegedly terrifying two people by threatening them with a handcrafted pistol in front of shocked onlookers in the heart of Melbourne.
Police arrived on the scene of Spencer Street in the CBD shortly before 10 a.m. Friday after reports of an altercation between a man and two people he did not know.
The man is said to have threatened the two strangers with a homemade firearm.
The victims, who were not injured, then alerted the police.
Police arrested the man on nearby Elizabeth Street a short time later and reportedly found a homemade firearm in his possession, which was seized.
The man, 24, with no fixed address, is helping the police with their investigation.
