Arne Slot is spotted in Liverpool for the first time since club confirmed head coach as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement – as the German manager begins his new life in Spain

Arne Slot has arrived at Liverpool ahead of his new role as head coach at Anfield.

The Dutch manager’s negotiations with the club had been ongoing since April after the previous front-runner to replace outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp, Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso, confirmed he would honor his contract and stay at his club for another season .

Four weeks ago, the two parties reached a verbal agreement, with Slot confirming the news himself at a press conference for his former club Feyenoord.

Liverpool themselves finally confirmed the news with a formal announcement on Monday, a day after Klopp’s emotional final game against Merseyside.

Ahead of his first day in the role on June 1, Slot wasted no time in flying from the Netherlands to England and settling into his new neighborhood.

The 45-year-old was spotted at the chic Moor Hall Restaurant in Aughton, ten miles from Liverpool, and a stone’s throw from his new home: Klopp’s former £4million home in Formby.

Klopp had bought the house from another ex-Reds manager, Brendan Rodgers.

Moor Hall welcomed the incoming head coach and posted a photo of head chef Mark Birchall alongside Slot with the caption: ‘It was great to welcome Arne Slot to Moor Hall restaurant yesterday’.

The two-Michelin star restaurant was named ‘England’s Best Restaurant’ for the second year running at the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards 2023 and features a set ‘Provenance Menu’ priced at £235 per person.

The produce-based dishes available include smoked eel with potato, fermented garlic and flowers, and grilled Cornish turbot with salsify, pear and mussel and roe sauce.

Although Slot will not meet his players until pre-season training begins in July, his arrival at Anfield has been significantly eased by the vocal support of his predecessor.

Speaking to the delighted crowd after Liverpool’s 3-0 win against Wolves on the final day of the season, Klopp teased the Anfield faithful as he tried to teach them a new song.

‘As of today, I am one of you, and I continue to believe in you. I continue to believe in it 100 percent,” Klopp began, before starting to sing the new manager’s name to the tune of a song once used for his own.

With a big grin on his face, Klopp sang: ‘Arne Slot! La, la, la la! Arne Slot! La, la, la, la!’

He then said: ‘When the next season starts, you don’t wait to see what’s going on, no, you go into it full throttle. You welcome the new manager like you welcome me. You go all-in from day one.

‘And when things are difficult, you keep believing. When it’s difficult, you keep believing and pushing the team, for a goal or whatever. I’m one of you now, I love you dearly.’
