Army-Navy thriller! Midshipmen fall just ONE YARD SHORT against the Black Knights to fall, 17-11, as Cadets capture sixth Commander-in-Chief trophy in their last eight meetings

The Midshipmen were one yard away from tying the Black Knights during Saturday's Army-Navy battle at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Ultimately, Army emerged victorious 17–11 despite Navy's late-game resurgence.

An attempt to push quarterback Tai Lavaita for a touchdown and force overtime fell just inches short as the Black Knights held their rivals just off the goal line with three seconds left.

After entering the final quarter scoreless, Navy found their footing and looked on the verge of a comeback victory. The Midshipmen needed a touchdown and a two-point conversion while trailing 17-9 with a minute left.

Unfortunately, the Navy's final efforts were fruitless after Lavaita failed to complete three of his winning attempts before resorting to the final push. Two of the passes were not collected by teammates, while one was blocked by Army defender Max Didomenico.

Army won their sixth Commander-in-Chief trophy in the past eight years and their 63rd match in the rivalry's history. Meanwhile, the Midshipmen lead with 54 wins in their meetings.
