The woman who accused actor Armie Hammer of rape now says he is being “manipulative” and trying to “elicit sympathy” after revealing he once attempted suicide.
Effie, 26, had accused the 36-year-old actor in 2021 of having “violently raped” her. Soon after, several other women came forward and accused Hammer of being interested in kinky sex and even cannibalism.
The embarrassed star tried to keep a low profile ever since, but on Saturday the disgraced actor broke his silence, claiming he attempted suicide after Effie spoke up.
He denied the allegations through his lawyer, saying that all of their sexual encounters were “fully consensual, discussed and agreed to beforehand and mutually participatory.”
But Effie now says the Social Network star had told her the suicide story years before she spoke, and now she only shares it publicly in an attempt to win sympathy and silence her victims.
Effie Angelova, 26, had accused Armie Hammer, 36, of having “violently raped” her in 2021
Angelova shared how she told her parents about the alleged abuse she faced at the hands of Hammer
She said Hammer had previously told her about his suicide attempt, even before she opened up about the alleged abuse.
In her Instagram Story on Monday night, Efrosina Angelova, ‘Effie’, recounted how Hammer’s abuse ‘had not only affected me, but my family’.
He previously claimed that Hammer “repeatedly slammed her head into a wall”, leaving her with bruises on her face.
Writing on Instagram on Monday, Angelova said Hammer was “just worried that I was telling my family.”
The alleged victim included screenshots of text messages to back up her claims, including some from Hammer, who wrote: “This all sounds intense.
I’m sorry you’re going through all this and I’m sorry your parents got so involved. And I’m sorry your parents are so hurt to see you hurt.
“Not really sure how to respond or move on,” the actor reportedly wrote. “Other than saying I’m sorry and completely understand why you’re upset and why your parents are.”
Angelova then went on to say on her Instagram Story that Hammer had previously told her about how she tried to kill herself, denying that it happened after she spoke out against him.
“It made me really worried about him, it made me feel bad for telling him that his abuse had ruined me and it made me want to take care of him,” she said.
“He was gone for a couple of days, which only made me worry about him more,” she said.
“Now he claims his story about the ocean happened after I spoke publicly,” he said.
“He seems so manipulative because he knows his story about the ocean shut me up last time and elicited sympathy and it’s like now he’s trying again.”
“I think on some level he feels guilty,” Angelova said, sharing a text of her allegedly telling Hammer years ago: “I cried again today thinking about what you said to me. I wish I could give you a hug and do better.
Efrosina Angelova said she thought Hammer was bringing up the story of her suicide attempt to shut her up.
Now he accuses The Social Network star of bringing up his suicide attempt and sexual abuse at the hands of a youth pastor to gain sympathy.
Hammer shared the so-called ocean story publicly over the weekend, detailing how he once contemplated suicide in the Cayman Islands.
“I just went out into the ocean and swam as far as I could and expected to drown, or get hit by a boat, or get eaten by a shark,” Hammer told Graydon Carter. Air mail.
“Then I realized my children were still on land and I couldn’t do that to my children.”
Hammer then went on to defend his sexual interests by saying that he has had an interest in BDSM since the age of 13, when he was sexually abused by a youth pastor.
“What that did for me was it brought sexuality into my life in a way that was completely out of my control,” Hammer said. ‘I was powerless in the situation. I had no agency in the situation.
“Sexuality was presented to me in a terrifying way that I had no control over. So my interests were: I want to be in control of the situation, sexually.’
Hammer’s godmother, Candace Garvey, one of only two people she told when it happened, corroborated her story to Air Mail.
Hammer (pictured in 2019) has said that at one point he attempted suicide in the Cayman Islands.
Hammer’s troubles began when the House of Effie Instagram account began leaking disturbing messages, allegedly sent by him between 2016 and February 2020, that include BDSM talk, as well as numerous sexual references to cannibalistic and bloodsucking acts.
In one message, the actor allegedly writes to the woman: ‘I am 100% cannibal. I want to eat you.’
‘F**k. It’s scary to admit it,” the message continues. I’ve never admitted that before.
Hammer’s former partners, Paige Lorenze and Courtney Vucekovich, later also accused him of being physically and emotionally abusive while they were together.
Lorenze told Page Six that the actor had carved the letter ‘A’ into his pelvis to mark it and then sucked the oozing blood.
She also accused him of being emotionally manipulative and said he repeatedly talked about ‘consuming’ her.
After the allegations began piling up in January, Hammer stepped down from a role in Jennifer Lopez’s film Shotgun Wedding and denied the allegations against her in a statement to the Daily Mail.
‘I am not responding to these cursed claims, but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I now cannot, in good conscience, leave my children for 4 months to film a movie in the Dominican Republic. ,’ he said.
A representative for the production said: “Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.”
Speaking at a press conference, Effie claimed that Hammer “repeatedly banged her head against a wall” during the incident, leaving her with bruises on her face.
In March, Effie Angelova officially came forward with her attorney Gloria Allred, claiming: “On April 24, 2017, I was violently raped by Armie Hammer for over four hours in Los Angeles. During which she repeatedly hit my head against a wall and bruised my face. He also committed other acts of violence against me to which I did not consent.’
According to Variety, Angelova said she thought Hammer was “going to kill her,” stating that he hit her feet during the alleged attack “to make them hurt” and said she tried to leave “but he wouldn’t let her.”
Angelova alleges that she met Hammer on Facebook when she was 20 and admitted to falling in love with the actor, though she now believes she fell victim to “manipulation tactics”.
She stated: ‘He often tested my devotion to him. He abused me mentally, emotionally, and sexually.
Shortly thereafter, the LAPD confirmed that it was investigating the actor after a “community member” appeared with an attorney on February 3, 2021 with a sexual assault claim.
Hammer has denied the allegations through his lawyer, saying all of his sexual encounters have been “completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance and mutually participatory.”
Hammer has denied the allegations against him, and his lawyer has provided screenshots of alleged text conversations between him and Angelova that appear to suggest that he told her they could not be in a relationship, although they are unverified.
In a message, Hammer reportedly told Angelova: ‘I’m not going to be able to engage with you in that specific way right now. It never ends well. We can talk and be friends, but I can’t do that.
The actor’s lawyer also said Hammer’s meeting with Angelova was “completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon beforehand, and mutual participation.”
In a statement, the lawyer said: “Effie’s own correspondence with Mr Hammer undermines and refutes his outrageous allegations. Recently, on July 18, 2020, [she] she sent graphic texts to Mr. Hammer telling him what she wanted him to do to her
‘Mister. Hammer responded, making it clear that he didn’t want to have that kind of relationship with her.
‘It was never Mr Hammer’s intention to embarrass or expose [Effie’s] fetishes or perverted sexual desires, but now he has taken this issue to another level by hiring a civil attorney to organize a public press conference.
‘With the truth on his side, Mr Hammer welcomes the opportunity to set the record straight. From day one, Mr. Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with [Effie] – and any other sexual partners of yours for that matter – have been fully consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually involved.
‘[Effie’s] attention-seeking and ill-advised legal offer will only make it more difficult for actual victims of sexual violence to get the justice they deserve.’
