Armie Hammer’s mother says he was ‘morally wrong’ but not ‘criminally’ following cannibalism and abuse allegations controversy

Armie Hammer’s mother has broken her silence over her son’s allegations of cannibalism and abuse.

The 37-year-old Call Me By Your Name actor, who was at the height of his fame, fell from grace after multiple women accused him of violent abuse and cannibalism fantasies.

In February 2021, his ex-girlfriend, Effie Angelova, 26, accused him of “violently” raping and assaulting her in 2017. He denied the rape allegations through his lawyer, saying all of his sexual encounters were “completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance and mutually participatory.”

Dru Hammer – who will soon have a revealing book, Hammered – told TMZ: ‘I was very careful during the whole ordeal because my own son did not come out to defend himself.

‘I had a pastor back then who said if you defend yourself, that’s the only defense you’ll ever have. So we believe God is our defense and now the truth is coming out.

Referring to her son’s recent interviews with Bill Maher and Piers Morgan, she said: ‘He wasn’t criminally wrong, he was morally wrong, but it has changed his life forever and he’s now sober and happier than ever.

‘And coming back to God, that’s the most important thing for me.’

She said things were looking “so good” for Armie now and that he was ready to return to Hollywood.

Dru added that she detailed her son’s scandal in her new book, and that he approved the book without any changes. He also said, “I wouldn’t change anything, I’m really proud of you, Mom.”

Hammer recently confirmed his ex-girlfriend Paige Lorenze’s accusation that he once “branded” her with a knife, but he claims it looked “more like a scratch” or “a tattoo.”

The actor admitted this in a new interview with Piers Morgan, in which he attempted to downplay Lorenze’s disturbing version of events.

At the height of Hammer’s cannibalism and abuse scandal in 2021, Lorenze accused him of “marking and branding” her during their “traumatic” four-month relationship in 2020.

The Dairy Boy founder claimed at the time to DailyMail.com that Hammer carved his initial into her crotch with a knife and licked the blood from the wound during a kinky sexual encounter that got out of hand.

But Hammer claimed to Morgan on Thursday, according to Page Sixthat he did not officially ‘brand’ Lorenze and that no blood was ever shed.

“I wouldn’t say brand, no,” Hammer said. “There was a scenario we talked about beforehand where I was going to basically take a little, tiny dot and just trace the letter ‘A’ — like the tip of a little knife.”

He continued, “I mean, there wasn’t even blood in the situation. It looked more like a scratch… It’s kind of like couples getting their initials tattooed on each other.”

Morgan pointed out that sticking a knife into someone’s skin is “different than getting a tattoo.”

‘[It’s] less permanent. I can assure you it was such a small thing,’ Hammer fired back.

After Morgan admitted he was “shocked” by the whole affair, Hammer tried to pass it off as a “romantic gesture.”

“Yeah, I think to some people it probably sounds very strange. To others it probably sounds like a very romantic gesture,” he explained.

He also insisted that he had nothing to gain from it: “a sexual experience that my partner did not appreciate or enjoy.”

“That also gave me a huge sense of validation, it gave the person I was with a good feeling, it gave the person I was with, I don’t know if I can say this, a high,” Hammer explained to Morgan.

“They were things that made me feel good and made me feel powerful. I really needed that because I didn’t know how to give them to myself.”

Lorenze exclusively shared a photo of her “A” scar with DailyMail in 2021, detailing their four-month romance.

Last month, Hammer revealed that he is grateful for the shocking allegations of cannibalism and abuse that derailed his once-stellar acting career in Hollywood.

In the podcast Painful Lessons, the actor said of the scandal: ‘No matter what people said, no matter what happened, I’m at a point in my life now where I’m grateful for every little bit of it,

“I’m at a point now where I’m really grateful for it. Before all of these things happened to me, I didn’t feel good. I was never satisfied, I was never enough. I was never happy with myself, I was never confident.

“I never knew how to give myself love. I never knew how to give myself self-affirmation, but I had this job where I could get it from so many people that I never had to learn how to give it to myself.”

When accused of cannibalism – the actor reportedly said in text messages in 2021 that he was “100% a cannibal” – he added: “People called me a cannibal. Like I ate people! What???? You know what you gotta do to be a cannibal? You gotta eat people!”

He added of his demise: ‘It was an ego death, a career death. A neutron bomb went off in my life. It killed [everything]’

His then-wife Chambers split in July 2020. The former couple have two young children.

Hammer was told he had 'issues' but is 'not what people say' in a psychiatric evaluation report - after allegations of cannibalism and abuse derailed his career in 2021.

The star said he had considered suicide during that period, saying: “There were a lot of times when I thought I couldn’t take this anymore. I got hate… so it just went in… there was a time

‘I stood on the shore and swam out to the beach. I just lay there… a half-hearted suicide attempt… But I thought I couldn’t do that to my children.’

He admitted that his career in Hollywood was “going nowhere” and said he was “creating his own sandbox” and planned to write a screenplay.
