Armie Hammer ‘can’t afford gas anymore’ and is forced to sell truck after cannibalism scandal killed Hollywood career

Armie Hammer is selling his truck because he ‘can’t afford gas anymore.’

On Tuesday, the day before his 38th birthday, he posted a video on Instagram explaining what he’s been doing since his acting career was upended by scandal.

The update comes a month after he said he was “grateful” for the cannibalism, sexual misconduct and a rape allegation that derailed his career in 2021.

The actor, who has not worked in Hollywood since the allegations against him, told fans in a video he recorded in a CarMax parking lot that he bought a new, “small” hybrid car because he can no longer afford the truck.

He began his video by explaining that he’s been back in Los Angeles “for a couple of weeks now” and that he plans to sell his truck so he can start his 38th year with “a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life.”

He began his video by explaining that he’s been back in Los Angeles “for a couple of weeks now” and plans to sell his truck so he can start his 38th year with “a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life.”

“This is my truck,” he said, introducing the vehicle he’s owned for seven years. “I bought this for myself as a Christmas present in 2017.”

He continues, “I love this truck and have taken it camping, across the country, and on long road trips. I even took it to CarMax one last time.”

He clarified that his video was “not an advertisement” and that he was only filming an update “because I’m selling my truck.”

“I’ve put about $400 to $500 worth of gas in it since I got back to LA, and I can’t afford that anymore,” he admitted.

“I can’t afford the gas anymore,” he stressed.

“I mean, this truck, it brought the kids home from the hospital and all that stuff,” Hammer added. “Great trips, but you know, that’s OK.”

He explained that he had already bought a new, ‘small’ car.

“I got a new car. It’s small. It’s a hybrid,” he said. “I’m probably going to put about $10 a month in gas in it and this is it. Off to a new beginning.”

“Since I got back to L.A. I’ve put about $400 or $500 worth of gas in there and I can’t afford it,” he admitted. “I can’t afford the gas,” he stressed.

He also indicated that it was the day before his birthday and he wanted a fresh start.

“Tomorrow is my birthday. So, August 28th, I’m starting my birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life in Los Angeles.”

He then turned to his car and said to the inanimate object, “Thank you very much.”

“You’ve brought me a long way and I appreciate all of it. I hope you take just as good care of the next person.”

He concluded: ‘I keep telling myself that parking will be easier and gas will be cheaper.’

His update follows his appearance on the Painful Lessons podcast in June, in which he discussed his rape accusation in a case that was settled without charges in 2021.

The star, who previously denied any past criminality, said he has learned invaluable lessons and gained a new perspective following the scandal; seen in February 2019

He said he was “grateful” for the experience of the cancellation.

The star, who previously denied ever committing any crime, said: ‘No matter what people said, no matter what happened, I’m at a point in my life now where I’m grateful for every little detail of it.’

Hammer continued, “I’m actually at a point now where I’m really grateful for it, because where I was in my life before all of that stuff happened to me, I didn’t feel good. I never felt satisfied. I never had enough.

“I’ve never been happy with myself.”

He said the scandal had taught him valuable lessons and given him a new perspective.

‘I can look at it with a sense of distance and perspective and think, “That’s hilarious.” People called me a cannibal and everyone believed them. They said, “Yeah, that guy ate people.” They just said… What? What are you talking about?’
