An Arizona woman has been accused of killing her US Air Force employee husband by poisoning his coffee with bleach after he placed secret cameras in their home to catch her.
Melody Felicano Johnson is said to have poured a toxic substance into her husband Roby Johnson’s morning coffee on multiple occasions. The father believes she did it to try and collect his death benefit.
She was indicted by a grand jury on charges of attempted first degree murder, attempted aggravated assault and poisoning of food or drink.
Johnson was stationed in Germany for work in March 2023 when he thought his coffee was starting to taste “really bad.”
His wife would make his coffee the night before, so in the morning all he had to do was turn it on to get his caffeine fix.

Because of his suspicions, he bought pool test strips and dipped them into his coffee pot, which showed “high levels of chlorine.”
He also posted cameras showing his wife Melody pouring something into the coffee pot.
According to the report, he continued to pretend to drink the coffee, but did not report it to police until he returned to Davis Monthan Air Force Base in the US in July.
He placed more cameras in their permanent home in the United States – one above the coffee maker, in the laundry room where the bleach is kept, and another showing the route from the laundry to the coffee maker.
After collecting all the footage, Johnson went back to the police and showed them his evidence.
Police subsequently arrested Melody at home and a search warrant reported that the coffee pot smelled of bleach.
The documents also revealed that the man believed she was trying to kill him “to collect death benefits.”
The couple was still living with their child but went through a divorce.
At a Friday arraignment, Melody Johnson pleaded not guilty.
She is being held in the Pima County Jail on $250,000 bond.
The mother is due to appear in court on September 6.
According to the prosecution, Johnson had just bought a house in the Philippines and was therefore wanted as a flight risk.
