Ana Orsini’s cause of death revealed after beloved CBS news anchor died suddenly at age 28

A much-loved newsreader who died last week died of a brain aneurysm, it has been revealed.

Ana Orsini’s death was announced Monday evening by Tyler Butler and Carsyn Currier, co-hosts of CBS affiliate KOLD News13.

The 28-year-old was remembered for her ‘funny’, vibrant personality as Currier broke down in tears while sharing the tragic news.

“Our beloved friend and co-host Ana Orsini passed away unexpectedly last week,” Butler began.

“Ana was here at 13 News since June 2023,” Currier added, struggling to hold back tears. “We are devastated by this loss.”

The TV presenter was so overcome with emotion that Butler had to step in to continue reading the channel’s tribute to Orsini, while holding his co-host’s hand.

“We had the opportunity to work every day and we want you to know that what you saw with her on the air, the funny, crazy person that she was – she was the same way off camera and even more so,” Butler shared .

Currier was able to regain her composure to set up a station-prepared tribute.

Ana Orsini, a native of Denver, worked at 13News since June 2023 and was also remembered by Ashe Hajek, former producer of NewsWatch12 KDRV This Morning, who described her as a “force to be reckoned with.”

‘Of course we wear pink especially for her. And while there is no perfect way to remember the life Ana lived, we want to honor her by sharing our favorite Ana moments with you,” she said before a moving montage of clips featuring Orsini aired.

Orsini began her journalism career in 2018 in Lubbock, Texas, as an anchor and reporter after graduating from Texas A&M University.

She later spent three years at NewsWatch 12 before joining KOLD News13 in Tucson, Arizona in June 2023.

After the emotional broadcast, both presenters took to social media to pay tribute to their beloved colleague.

‘We have some really sad news to share. Our beloved Ana Orsini passed away suddenly at the end of last week. She was one of a kind,” Butler wrote on Facebook.

‘Passionate about helping animals, fiercely devoted to her family and blessed with a keen sense of humor, Ana was extraordinary.

“Please remember her today, think of a time when she made you laugh or saw the world differently. Although she left us too soon, her spirit will live on in our hearts. In the years to come we will repeat her mantra: ‘Let the women do the work!’

Currier described Orsini in a moving Instagram post as the “Bratz doll to her Barbie doll” and reflected on the joy and energy she brought to their newsroom.

“Ana was unlike anyone I’ve ever met: beautiful, talented, hilarious, and completely genuine,” Currier wrote.

Orsini’s career began in 2018 in Lubbock, Texas, where she worked as an anchor/reporter

When she wasn’t working, Orsini spent time playing fetch with her own rescue dog, Harley

‘She made everyone feel special, heard and understood. Getting up early for work was easier knowing she would be there. She was a wonderful friend, a devoted daughter and sister, and the best dog mom to her beloved Harley. I promise to continue to live completely in her honor. Rest in peace, sister.’

KOLD meteorologist Cory Kowitz also paid tribute, sharing video of memorable on-air moments with Orsini in a heartfelt post on X.

“Last week we lost a beloved member of our KOLD news family,” Kowitz wrote. “Ana was not only our anchor, but also a leader, a trusted colleague and a wonderful friend.

“Although our time together was far too short, I am grateful for the memories we created. Rest in peace, Anna.’

In the fall, Orsini always spent her Saturdays watching football

Ashe Hajek, a former NewsWatch 12 producer, remembered Orsini as a “force to be reckoned with.”

“When I first met Ana, she was confidently dressed in pink from head to toe,” Hajek recalls. ‘

She led with authenticity and never hesitated to push others to discover their true potential. Her compassionate heart and fearless spirit touched everyone she met. The lessons she taught me about strength, hope and self-confidence will stay with me forever.”
