Ariana Grande’s premonition tweet from 13 years ago resurfaces

A tweet Ariana Grande posted 13 years ago expressing her desire to play Glinda the Good from Wicked has resurfaced in a very sweet full-circle moment.

The 31-year-old singer, who has been tipped to receive an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Galinda Upland in the new Wicked film, told fans on Twitter more than a decade ago that it was her dream role.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in June, the pop star talked about the role in the blockbuster and how she had to keep it a secret.

Jimmy, 50, couldn’t resist mentioning Ariana’s tweet from December 2011 and held up a printout of it.

“I’m so happy for you, by the way I found a tweet you posted in 2011,” he told her, before reading her throwback post.

The tweet read: ‘Loved seeing Wicked again…great production! It made me realize again how much I would love to play Glinda someday in my life! #Dreamroll.”

As the live studio audience gave a round of applause, Jimmy told Ariana, “You did it, come on!” as the singer smiled and replied, “That’s so sweet.”

About her participation in the film, Ariana told Jimmy: “It’s obviously so surreal to see the reaction. You know, this is something Cynthia and I were working on every day.

“The brilliant Cynthia Erivo,” she added, referring to her co-star who plays Elphaba Thropp, a misunderstood young woman born with green skin who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.

The throwback tweet comes after Ariana shared a rare PDA photo with her boyfriend Ethan Slater as they continue to enjoy the box office success of Wicked.

In the snap, Ariana was seen hugging Ethan, 32, who portrayed Boq, in a candid photo with Fiyero star Jonathan Bailey.

Although the trio could only be seen from the back, Ariana looked smitten with her boyfriend as she nuzzled up to him.

The star also showed off some candid behind-the-scenes moments, including sharing a kiss with Jonathan, 36, and posing in extravagant outfits.

Ariana and Ethan met on the set of Wicked but have kept their romance a secret since getting together.

Ethan recently shared his thoughts on the pop star’s heartfelt interviews with her Wicked co-star Cynthia ahead of the film’s highly anticipated release.

Ariana and Cynthia showed off the deep bond they formed during the production – sometimes even holding hands and shedding tears during interviews.

He went on to explain how he feels about their performances, “And I love this Glinda trying to figure out how to be a good person, and I love this Elphaba trying to figure out how to fit in.” deeply connected to the journeys of these women.’

Ethan said he believes this emotional depth is what makes their interviews so moving, saying, “Wicked is so much fun, but Cynthia and Ariana are holding hands and crying.

“But I think it’s because both of those things are true. They both exist,” he added.
