Ariana Grande showed off her comedic skills this weekend as the host of Saturday Night Live.
The Wicked star, 31, who was mocked by fans for not wanting to appear in a Wizard of Oz skit on the late night staple, hit it out of the park with an impersonation of icon Jennifer Coolidge.
The fake Maybelline commercial begins with SNL regular Chloe Fineman wearing a pink lingerie ensemble and sitting at her vanity table applying lip gloss.
“Oh god, hello!”, she said to the camera in her best Coolidge voice, “Maybelline’s new Super Stay Longwear liquid lip color lasts like a dream. I better look in the mirror and make sure I haven’t missed any spots.’
Grande appears as her reflection and says, “Wow, you look great, Jennifer Coolidge.”

The two compliment their looks for a moment and then Fineman reveals, “I have a big date tonight and I’m counting on Maybelline’s liquid lip, long lip to seal the deal.” Then they add more gloss, before moving onto some important first date questions.
“What are we going to talk about on our date?” asks Grande. “I don’t know,” replied Fineman, who then asked, “What’s a good conversation starter?”
“Lemons?” the Into You singer suggests to get a good laugh. “Oh well,” the Megaloplis actress agrees, adding, “What topic should we avoid?”
“Fish,” her reflection answers, with Fineman asking whether she should avoid mention of the animal or band. “Is there an animal called a Fish?” Big questions. ‘Yes’ is the answer.
When asked what to tell the date if you’re asked if you have a superpower, Jennifer responds in the mirror with a deadpan “crab walk.”
“Give me one now,” Fineman says to Grande, who struggles not to laugh as she suggests. “If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be?” “Life,” Fineman replies.
“Wow, you can’t help but sound smart when you wear Maybelline,” Grande admits. “Let’s say the name together.” They then start saying the very long name of the shine over each other, but can’t get it right.
After cleaning the ‘mirror’ with a blue liquid, they mimic each other wiping the mirror with a cloth. “I wonder what our lips look like from the side,” says Fineman, who then opens the frame.
Grande’s scene partner was Chloe Fineman, who also played Jennifer Coolidge. The two talked about their upcoming date through the mirror

The audience was in for a big surprise when SNL alum Dana Carvey, 69, appeared in the side reflection as Coolidge. “Thank God you opened the mirror,” he managed to say over the audience’s laughter. “I’ve been stuck here for years.”
“Oh no,” Fineman replies. “It’s okay, you look great. I’m Jennifer Coolidge,” Carvey said, introducing his character and adding, “Hey, maybe we need more long-lasting liquid lip color, long-lasting mouth magic,”
The original Jennifers agree, and she and Grande start applying the gloss to each other. As Carvey struggles to find his own tube, they offer him some of theirs and start sharing the product.

“Alright girls, it’s about time. Are we ready?’ Fineman asks, with Grande quickly adding, “Yes.” Together, the three of them comically fumble the lip gloss’s overly long name, ending with a group: “Wow.”

The clip received high praise from fans who saw it on YouTube. “It wouldn’t be an Ari skit without Jennifer, and I love the fact that they couldn’t keep it together,” one follower wrote.
‘Great job by Ariana. Hard to top Chloe’s impressions, but she did. Not something I expected,” wrote another.
One fan had high praise for Carvey. “After losing his son earlier this year, it is such a blessing for Dana to be able to return to the SNL stage this season. AND he kills it! I hope it all helps him on his healing journey,” she wrote.
