Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez finalise their divorce: Singer agrees to mammoth payment as couple’s two-year marriage is officially dissolved

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez have finalized their divorce after almost three years of marriage.

A Los Angeles Superior Court ruling dissolving their marriage became official on Tuesday, six months after Ariana, 30, filed for divorce from the 28-year-old real estate agent.

The two separated over a year ago, court papers show, and because the couple had a prenuptial agreement, no children and no significant legal disputes during the split, the divorce was able to proceed quickly and gracefully through the legal system.

The terms of their settlement were agreed to in October and the couple only had to wait the required six months for the judge’s order to take effect.

Under the agreement, Ariana will make a one-time payment of $1,250,000 to her ex-husband, with no future alimony.

She will also give him half of the proceeds from the sale of their Los Angeles home, and pay up to $25,000 in his attorneys’ fees.

Like the vast majority of divorces in California, Arian’s petition cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

The couple started dating in January 2020 and quarantined together during the pandemic.

They appeared together in the video for Justin Bieber’s charity single Stuck With U in May that year, and announced their engagement in December.

The couple married on May 15, 2021 in a small private ceremony at Ariana’s home in Montecito, California.

Their split was announced in 2023, with Ariana filing for divorce in October.

Shortly after their divorce became public, she entered into a controversial relationship with her current boyfriend and Wicked co-star Ethan Slater.

Ariana doubled down on her shock split from Dalton by deleting all photos of their wedding from Instagram.

Sources say they tried to mend their marriage months ago but it ‘failed’. It was also claimed that Dalton flew to London in January in a last-ditch effort to save the couple’s marriage.

She sent fans into a frenzy following the release of her single Eternal Sunshine as they speculated that her husband Dalton may have cheated on her.

Listeners quickly noticed that the cryptic lyrics in the title track accused her husband of being unfaithful.

Fans claimed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that if Dalton was unfaithful, Ariana “deserves an apology” after months of being accused of trespassing over her romance with Ethan Slater.

The lyric in question was: “So now we play our separate scenes // Now she’s in my bed, on your chest // Now I’m in my head wondering how it ends.”

Fans were quick to read between the lines and rushed to social media to claim Dalton cheated on Ariana during their wedding.

He and Lilly have been married since 2018 and share a son who they welcomed last August.

Ethan and Ariana reportedly romanced last year while filming Wicked in London.

Ariana and Ethan are said to be ‘stuck together’ after their secret romance went public, leaving them unable to return to their respective marriages.

“Ariana is currently living with a married man while still married,” a source close to the situation exclusively told DailyMail.com before Ariana and Dalton filed for divorce.

The pair met in December 2022 on the British set of the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Wicked, in which Ariana plays Glinda – the good witch – alongside Ethan as munchkin Boq.

Weeks earlier, People magazine reported that the couple was strictly “friends” until after they split with their respective spouses.

But a separate source said these claims were ‘absolutely untrue’, adding that there was ‘evidence to prove this’.

“Ariana and Ethan never intended for their relationship to be made public,” the second source told DailyMail.com.

‘They hoped to keep it a secret and go back to their wedding as if nothing had happened. But this was not possible because they were caught.

‘Now they’re stuck together and they don’t really have anything in common. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.”

Both couples announced their split within days of each other in July, with Ariana announcing her split from Dalton just three days before confirming her new relationship with Ethan, who then filed for divorce from Lilly.

Citing irreconcilable differences, he asked for joint custody of their newborn son.

Multiple sources who witnessed Ariana and Ethan’s lovefest told DailyMail.com that they were “sloppy” both on and off set, including at an Oscars party in March.

“They were seen standing over each other while he was supposedly still happily married to Lilly,” they said.

“They were seen kissing in a pub in Hampstead, and they were all over each other at Michelle Yeoh’s Oscar party (in March).”

Ethan and Lilly – his high school sweetheart – tied the knot in 2018 before welcoming a baby boy in August 2022.

He opened up about his soon-to-be ex-wife on their fourth wedding anniversary three months later in November, with Ariana liking the since-deleted post.

In the ’80s-inspired song Yes, And? Ariana appears to clap back at criticism of their romance, repeatedly asking, “Yes, and?” she encourages listeners to think about why they feel compelled to comment on her life.

“Your business is your own, and mine is mine,” the pop princess also shouts, before adding, “Why do you care so much whose dick I ride?”

In another line, she sings, “Now I’m so done caring about what you think, no, I won’t hide under your own projections or change my most authentic life.”
