The film is based on Gregory Maguire’s best-selling novel and the hit Broadway musical adaptation, which debuted in 2003 with Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel.
It is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz in which the storyline continues with Dorothy and describes the one-time friendship between the characters Elphaba and Glinda.
It also stars Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible and Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, as well as Bowen Yang, Adam James, Keala Settle and Bronwyn James.
Last month, the women were pictured together in a series of photos they shared on the social media site.
Grande captioned the snaps, “until (not) good,” adding bubbles and a broom emoji.
In the first photo, the women were in the back of a car; Grande was dressed in an elegant pink polka dot dress and long white gloves with her blonde hair in her signature high ponytail, sporting a pair of Mikimoto dangling pearl earrings.
Erivo was dressed in a short plaid dress with high black boots and big earrings as the two women looked at each other.
The carousel of snaps also included some behind-the-scenes shots from the set of Wicked, including a two-foot shot of Grande tagging Chu and the Wicked Movie account.
