Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are dogged by infidelity rumors from fans after their respective relationships ended while filming for Wicked.

The 31-year-old singer began dating co-star Ethan Slater after they met on the British set of the film adaptation of the celebrated musical in 2022, when both were married.

Meanwhile, Cynthia and American actress Lena Waithe’s relationship has sparked cheating speculation after they started dating shortly after Lena’s divorce.

When their romance was first revealed in July 2023, questions about the timeline of their relationship quickly overshadowed the project.

Production was ‘concerned’ about the impact their controversial pairing would have on the film’s success and insiders claimed the couple had been ordered to ‘disappear for six months’ in the hope of an averting backlash.

And fans have speculated about the possible overlap between the couple’s relationship and their respective marriages at the time.

Ariana and Ethan’s romance was revealed just a few days after the singer announced her split from husband Dalton Gomez after two years of marriage.

Although it was later said that they had broken up in January of that year, eagle-eyed fans suspect the dates are accurate.

On May 15, 2023, Ariana took to Instagram to celebrate her two-year wedding anniversary to Dalton with a sweet post.

She shared a photo of the couple kissing at their wedding in Montecito, California, and wrote, “2,” with a heart and the phrase, “3.5 years together.”

Meanwhile, Ethan’s then-wife Lilly Jay wished her husband a happy birthday on June 1, just over a month before Ariana and Ethan announced their relationship.

When a fan noticed the data, he wrote on Twitter: “But we have to believe there is no cheating.”

Another wrote: ‘Here is Ariana’s story. This woman seriously thought she was fooling everyone by saying, “We broke up in February 2023,” when on May 15 she told him, “I love you.”

‘Yes, the timeline is quite vague’; ‘The timeline says it all: hard to believe that there was no cheating when the story is like this’; “This timeline is messier than their excuses.”

Despite only being revealed to the world in the summer, it was later claimed that Ariana and Ethan were romantically involved months earlier, after bonding on the set of their upcoming film.

An insider said the pair were so open about their romance during filming that the majority of the Wicked cast knew they were in a relationship.

“They were sloppy on set,” the insider shared. ‘You could see they were all over each other.

‘They were making out in a pub in Hampstead, and they were all over each other at Michelle Yeoh’s Oscar party [in March].’

Ariana and Ethan even went on “several double dates” with their respective spouses, but it has also been reported that the actor only started dating Ariana when he split from Lilly.

Meanwhile, Cynthia is also rumored to be embroiled in a cheating scandal after she started dating Lena Waithe.

The American actress, 40, was previously married to film director and producer Alana Mayo.

The couple secretly married in 2019, but cheating rumors weren’t far behind and the couple separated in 2020 and divorced the following year.

Although the couple never mentioned the reason for the breakup, speculation began swirling online that Lena had cheated on Alana with Cynthia.

Cynthia and Lena first met in 2018 at the Met Gala and were seen together numerous times after her split.

In 2021, the pair were pictured sitting together at the Rhude fashion show and a year later were seen holding hands at the Alvin Ailey Spirit Gala.

In the meantime Ethan Slater’s ex-wife Lilly Jay has admitted the Wicked phenomenon has left her ‘unable to escape’ the ‘saddest days of my life’ as she broke her silence on the controversial relationship this week.

When Ethan joined the production, which began filming in December 2022, he married Lilly, his high school sweetheart, and the couple enjoyed their first months as parents to their newborn son.

Open up about her sadness at having to witness her ex-husband promoting Wicked around the world with the woman he left her for, she called it a very painful reminder of the “public demise of my marriage.”

In an essay for The cut, Published on Wednesday, the clinical psychologist, who shares a two-year-old son with Slater, reflected on navigating life as a single mother and the end of their six-year marriage.

She admitted that there are “days when I cannot escape the promotion of a film related to the saddest days of my life, which are darker.” Lily also said that while she rocks their son to sleep for “countless hours,” she is also “trying to come to terms with the sudden public demise of my marriage.”

“No one gets married expecting a divorce, just as we don’t board a plane expecting it to crash,” she said.

And again about her ex and his new lover: ‘I really never thought I would get a divorce. Certainly not right after the birth of my first child and certainly not in the shadow of my husband’s new relationship with a celebrity.’
