Matthew Vaughn has revealed that it was his wife Claudia Schiffer who convinced him to become a director.
The 52-year-old filmmaker previously worked as a producer and made his directorial debut in 2004 with the crime film Layer Cake.
But appearing on Tuesday’s episode of The One Show, Matthew revealed he might never have made the change if it wasn’t for Claudia, 53.
He said: ‘My wife persuaded me to become a director. I was a producer. She said, ‘immediately Layer Cake’ because Guy Ritchie dropped out or left.”
The couple married in 2002 and are parents to daughters Clementine and Cosima and son Caspar.

Matthew appeared on The One Show to promote his new film Argylle, along with one of the film’s stars, John Cena.
The director talked about how the star-studded film celebrates women and his involvement came about through his daughters.
He said: ‘We were watching Romancing The Stone during lockdown and the world had become quite bleak. My daughter said, “Why can’t you make a movie like that?”
“There’s a celebration of women in this film that we’re kind of keeping under wraps, but once you have daughters, you want women to be safe and celebrated.”
Argylle also stars Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Catherine O’Hara, Samuel L. Jackson, Ariana DeBose and Dua Lipa.
The plot follows introverted spy writer Elly as she is drawn into the real world of espionage when the plots of her books get a little too close to the activities of a sinister underground syndicate.
When Aiden (Sam Rockwell), a spy, shows up to save her from kidnapping, Elly and her beloved cat Alfie are plunged into a secret world.
Sam’s character, who has ties to the underworld through his Burgundian winery, tells Elly, “It’s time you met the real cop Argylle.”

The film is described as follows: ‘the world’s greatest spy, Argylle’, who becomes ’embroiled in a globe-trotting adventure’.
Argylle was first announced in June 2021, with Matthew directing from a script by Jason Fuchs, an adaptation of a yet-to-be-published novel by a mystery writer named Elly Conway.
The writer has apparently not published a book before, with the Argylle novel originally scheduled for publication on September 29, 2022, then pushed back to March 29, 2023, and now apparently scheduled for November 9, 2023.
Argylle will be released in cinemas on February 2, 2024.
