If you’re using the most recent versions of Google TV or Android TV, you may have run into issues with your home screen. If so, Google is aware of the issue and has created a fix for it, but it may not have reached your device yet.
According to 9to5GoogleThe issues occurred on multiple versions of Google TV: on the Chromecast with Google TV, on Walmart Onn boxes, and on some TVs with Android TV or Google TV built in.
The issues are with the content of the home screen, such as your personalized For You recommendations. For some viewers, there is nothing For You: that part of the home screen won’t load at all, but instead shows “Loading error: unable to load For You.” Other viewers have noticed the same issues with other parts of their home screen, leaving them blank or showing a similar loading error.
What causes the Google TV home screen loading error?
We can’t be sure, but it seems internet-y – likely a minor issue between your TV and Google’s servers, which would explain why Google was able to identify and fix it relatively quickly. As 9to5Google reports, a Google server outage over the weekend produced similar errors , though those stopped once the outage was over.
Whatever the explanation, Google says it’s fixed and that the fix was rolled out on August 16. In the meantime, if you’re still encountering the error while you wait for the update, you may be able to bypass it by logging out of your Google account and logging back in. Some Redditors have had more success with this than others, however, with some reporting that it worked, and others saying that even factory resetting their TV didn’t fix the problem.
“It may take some time for this update to reach everyone,” says Google community manager Kelanfromgoogle. “We appreciate your patience!”
