DO YOU get ‘zombiemed’ by your dates? Singleton claims dating trend is WORSE than ghosting

If you thought “ghosting” was one of the worst aspects of modern dating, maybe it’s time to think again.

According to singer-songwriter Mariel Darling, being a “zombie” is infinitely more frustrating.

Earlier this month, the New York-based musician from Massachusetts went viral on TikTok when she shared her experience with online dating.

In a viral video which has been viewed over 1.5 million times, Mariel explained how she came up with the new phrase ‘zombie’ – which she claims is a step up from ‘ghosting’.

Where “ghosting” simply involves cutting off all contact with the person you were dating without any explanation, getting “zombie” means that your former flame “comes back from the dead” to start a conversation out of the blue.

“It’s like ghosting, but he comes back from the dead after a few months and beats you up.”

She captioned the clip: “Who else is zombies?”

The video received a whopping 152,000 likes and nearly a thousand comments, with users sharing their own experiences with the dating trend.

One of them wrote, “Have you ever noticed that they all make you zombies at the same time?

“Like why four guys from my past all beat me up on the same day???”

Another said, “Mine has a Jesus Christ complex, he comes back every 3 days.”

A third wrote: ‘Been zombied 3 times.. I think… the moment he shows up and messages me. He said it’s small talk. Whatever.’
