General admission tickets for the Sydney dates of Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras tour sold out on Friday.

Only VIP and Hotel + Ticket packages remain for all Sydney shows.

For Melbourne, a possibility to buy general admission tickets will open again at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available through the Ticketek website. Prices range between $79 and $379 or up to $1249 if Swifties want to splurge on a VIP package.

Up to 800,000 hopeful fans were in the online lounge hours before the Sydney general sale went live on Friday – and similar numbers are expected for Melbourne.

How do you get Taylor Swift tickets if you missed it?

If you miss Friday’s general sale, your next option is to try and get a ticket on a resale platform.

The only 100 percent ‘safe’ way to purchase resale tickets for the concerts is through Ticketek’s own site Tmarketplace.

Fans who can no longer come to the show can place their tickets there – but can only charge 10 percent on top of the ticket price.

But some people have posted tickets on alternative sites, trying to make a profit already.

Ticket resale platform Viagogo has reportedly been offering Australia Eras tour tickets for up to double what they should cost fans.

A spokesperson for Viagogo confirmed that the platform does not sell tickets, but is a “marketplace that connects ticket sellers with fans in an open, secure and transparent platform.”

“In response to Victoria declaring the Taylor Swift tour a major event, we have taken appropriate steps to ensure that our platform is in full compliance with federal and state laws in Australia,” the spokesperson said.

It is against the law to resell and advertise tickets for a declared major event for more than 10 percent of the original price.

Individuals can be fined $109,044, while businesses can be fined $545,200.

The resale rules have been revised by event agency Frontier Touring.

“Any ticket for Taylor Swift, The Eras Tour that is offered for resale elsewhere, whether online or offline (including Viagogo, The Ticket Merchant, Tixel, Trade Me, eBay, and Gumtree, or any other unauthorized source, including any secondary websites for ticket sales, and social media) Buy Swap Swell pages), may result in all your orders and tickets being canceled without notice to you and your ticket price being refunded,” the company warned.
