Are age gaps the secret to happy relationships? As Al Pacino announces pregnancy with girlfriend, 29

The huge age differences between Al Pacino and Robert De Niro with their partners may be socially frowned upon, but research shows that couples decades apart are more romantically satisfied.

A team of scientists from Australia’s Deakin University proposes this one couples report more trust and commitment and less jealousy than similar-aged couples.

“More than three-quarters of couples where younger women are partnered with older men report satisfying romantic relationships,” researchers said.

This could influence the idea that Pacino, 83, and Noor Alfallah, 29, announced on Wednesday that they are eight months pregnant, while De Niro, 79, and Tiffany Chen, 45, welcomed a baby girl this month.

The age-gap couples likely see the relationship as a good investment — women are geared to look for a partner with statutes and resources, and men look for children who are carriers, according to scientists.

Researchers also noted that men value attractiveness and vitality more than women because these traits indicate fertility — another evolutionary point of view.

Pacino and Alfallah have been romantically linked since April 2022 and are now expecting their first child together.

The protagonist of Scarface is already a father of three children with two women: he shares 22-year-old twins Olivia Pacino and Anton James Pacino with Beverly D’Angelo; and Julie Pacino, 33, with Jan Tarrant.

The news of the pregnancy comes weeks after the actor’s longtime colleague, De Niro, welcomed his first child with Chen, who he’s been with since August 2021 — but the Godfather star previously had six children.

There’s a stigma around age-gap couples like Pacino and De Niro’s relationships — they usually don’t last.

The Deakin University team has found evidence that breakups aren’t always the case, according to one press release.

These findings can be found in other celebrity couples with huge age differences, such as George Clooney, 62, and Amal Clooney, 45, who have been together for nearly a decade.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, 53, and Michael Douglas, 78, have been married since 2000 and Calista Flockhart, 58, and Harrison Ford, 80, have been married for nearly 23 years.

While these famous celebrities seem to have found love in the gulf, Leonardo DiCaprio, 48, who has a reputation for dating women more than 20 years his junior, hasn’t been so lucky.

And a surfaced study from Emory University in Atlanta believes it’s because he’s dating younger women — contradicting theories from Deakin University.

Emory University found that couples with a five-year age difference are 18 percent more likely to break up than partners who are closer in age.

In 2014, researchers at the institution analyzed 3,000 people as part of their study.

The experts concluded that the greater the age difference between couples, the more likely they are to break up.

For example, partners were 39 percent more likely to break up if they were born 10 years apart.

The odds of a split then skyrocketed to 95 percent for couples with a 20-year age difference.

As such, researchers found that the “ideal” age difference between couples was a year or less.

The study concluded that the likelihood of divorce fell to just three percent for couples born within 12 months or less of each other.

Di Caprio’s love life typically makes headlines as the star usually doesn’t date anyone over the age of 25.

He dated Camila Morrone in 2022, and as her 26th birthday approached, social media went wild with jokes about their impending breakup.

One fan commented, “Happy birthday sweetie!!! It’s time we parted ways.’

Another commented, “Her lease is about to expire.”

“If they make it another year, it’ll be both his longest relationship and she’ll be the first 26-year-old he’s dated,” said one fan.

However, Di Capri and Morrone split in August, suggesting the Emory University research is true.
