Archie’s ex nanny admits she compared herself to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s au pair

The former nanny to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has admitted she compared herself to the au pair to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Lorren Khumalo, from Zimbabwe, was hired by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to look after their son Archie shortly after he was born in May 2019.
Appearing in the episode The Breakfast Club with Zenzele Ndebelethe pediatric nurse explained how nervous she was before her first meeting with the couple, who were still living at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor at the time.
When a representative of the new parents reached out to her, Lorren had accompanied another family for their half-term vacation in Germany.

After rushing back to the UK, Lorren said she was worried about what to wear to the interview and began comparing herself to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Norland nanny Maria Barrallo.
As a graduate of the world’s leading childcare training institutions, the au pair to the Prince and Princess of Wales is often seen in her distinctive Norland uniform, consisting of a beige dress with coat, tie, loafers and a hat. of brown felt.
Lorren said: ‘I thought to myself, ‘I wonder what their babysitters look like, do they wear heels?’
“Prince William has a nanny from Norland, so they have a brown uniform which, for my skin color and the way it looks in khaki brown, I knew it wouldn’t even work, it just wouldn’t work.”
The couple’s former nanny (pictured during their Netflix special) explained how she agonized over what to wear before going to Frogmore Cottage for the first time.
The Prince and Princess of Wales hired Norland’s nanny, Maria Barrallo (pictured in 2015), when Prince George was just a few months old. Norland graduates often wear the institute’s traditional beige uniform with a matching tie and fedora.

Lorren says she ultimately settled on a dressy outfit and tiny heels to look ‘presentable for a royal’.
She added: ‘But I didn’t wear any makeup, I said if they take me, they take me as I am.
‘I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, I’m not blue blooded, I’ll go as I am and trust me with my God, I’ll get this job.’
Additionally, Lorren said he was given a speeding ticket on the way to Frogmore Cottage for “driving too fast”.

Lorren worked for the couple when they lived at Frogmore Cottage (pictured) on the Windsor property before moving to Montecito, California.
Once he arrived in Windsor, Lorren said he had gone through “a lot of checks” before he was allowed access to the couple’s home.
Moments before meeting her future employer, the former nanny asked the Duke of Sussex’s protection officer if she needed to curtsy.
She added: “And he just looked at me and laughed and said, ‘You see, Prince Harry is amazing.'”
Describing the moment she first met Prince Harry, Lorren continued: “When I got there, the way he opened his arms ‘Hello Lorren!’ and he gave me a hug.

‘[I thought] “Wow what a gentleman what a gem” oh my gosh I couldn’t believe it. And when I walked in and saw Meghan I was like, “My God, what a beautiful woman.”
“I felt so comfortable, it wasn’t as formal as I expected it to be, it was just a normal home.”
Last month, the Duke and Duchess’s former nanny also appeared on their Netflix documentary series, labeling them “really hands-on parents.”
Lorren said the couple she would come see baby Archie in the morning and feed him before she took over and then take her newborn out for a walk.
Meghan added: “She didn’t just take care of Archie, she took care of us, she definitely took care of me.”
The professional nanny currently works as a neonatal intensive care (NICU) and pediatric nurse at the Portland hospital, where Meghan gave birth to Archie in 2019.
