Apple Watch Series 10 announced with largest display yet — yes, including the Ultra!
Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 10 at this year’s iPhone event, promising to be thinner and lighter than previous Apple Watches, with new aluminum and titanium finishes, the new S10 chipset, and the largest display ever — even bigger than the 49mm Apple Watch Ultra line.
The Apple Watch Series 10’s massive sapphire glass display offers 30 percent more screen real estate than the largest Apple Watch Series 6, while the new wide-angle OLED lens under the front promises to be 40 percent brighter when viewed from an angle compared to previous models. With a wider aspect ratio, users will be able to view an extra line of text compared to other models in messaging and mail apps, according to Apple, while pausing workouts is said to be “easier than ever”.
At just 9.7mm and with an aluminum enclosure that weighs 10 percent less than the Apple Watch Series 9, the Series 10 is also the thinnest and lightest Apple Watch ever. A new “innovative” metal back also promises the fastest charging ever, with just 30 minutes of charging giving you 80 percent battery capacity.
New aluminum finishes include Jet Black, Rose Gold, and Silver Aluminum, while the stainless steel models have been replaced with titanium, in Natural, Gold, and Slate Gray finishes. The new Flux face is reportedly custom made for the Apple Watch Series 10.
In addition to the previously exclusive Depth and Oceanic+ apps for underwater activities, and the new Tides app, the new Health feature on the Series 10 is Breathing Disturbances. Breathing Disturbances is a new metric in the Health app that can help diagnose sleep apnea. It notifies the user if it identifies moderate to consistent signs of sleep apnea and generates a report to show to your doctor. It’s been validated in the largest clinical study of its kind and is pending FCC certification. The feature is also available on the Series 9 and Ultra 2.
The Apple Watch Series 10 will be available starting September 20 for $399. International pricing has not yet been announced.
