The outage appeared to hit at 6:15 a.m. ET, impacting “some users,” according to Apple's status pages.
It is unclear what caused the outage and Apple has not yet shared any updates.
However, not all users report problems purchasing items with Apple Pay.
Apple Card is the tech giant's credit card issued by Goldman Sachs and designed for use with Apple Pay.
Currently the card is only available in the US and is owned by at least six million Americans.

Apple Cash rolled out in 2017 with iOS 11, allowing iPhone users to send money to others, similar to Venmo.
However, Apple Pay has become one of the most popular digital wallets in the world.
This feature allows users to tap on payment terminals and use saved cards.
In 2022, 18.1 percent of American shoppers used Apple Pay, and forecasts indicate that 23.3 percent of Americans will use the service by 2026.
