Shocking footage shows the moment engineer, 54, ‘stabs boy, 17, to death and injures four others after the group branded him a PEDOPHILE and they fought over lost phone’

Harrowing video shows the moment an engineer stabs a teenage boy to death while swimming in Wisconsin’s Apple River because they called him a ‘paedophile’.

In 2022, an altercation broke out between a 54-year-old man and several groups of people swimming and tubing in the northern Wisconsin river.

The man was Nicolae Miu from Pior Lake, Minnesota, who claims his fatal stabbing was “self-defense” after the group of goons claimed the 54-year-old was “looking for little girls.”

Two years later, the murder trial has begun and prosecutors have tried to prove that Miu was the aggressor in the situation and have him convicted of one charge of first-degree intentional murder and four charges of attempted murder. The defense argues that Miu acted in self-defense.

After testimony began Monday, the court reviewed a video that captured the intense moments leading up to and during the stabbing.

A woman approached Miu and ordered him away from the group, while one of the boys shouted “he was looking for little girls.”

The video then shows the group repeatedly pushing Miu into the water and hitting him as he tries to stand up.

Members of the group then started shouting: ‘Did he hit a woman?’

The woman clutched her side in shock as blood began to flow and it became clear she had been stabbed.

One witness, Ryan Nelson, 18, took the stand to recall the encounter, saying his group of six met one day on the river.

Nelson remembered Miu running toward the first group of snakes, but did not say why. He said he was scared and that the group asked the 54-year-old to leave several times.

He also claimed that his group did not know the other group that intervened, but they also asked Miu to leave.

Nelson said Miu never explained what he was doing and that he was knocked to the ground after punching the blonde woman.

When the prosecutor asked if Miu’s arms were “flailing” when he “hit” the woman, Nelson said no, saying “it appeared he definitely struck her with his right hand.”

After the woman was hit, her friends tried to save her and pushed Miu down.

Nelson says he was not the man, but that his friend, Isaac Schuman, was the 18-year-old who died in the terrifying incident.

Schuman was pronounced dead at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater. The other four victims – Rhyley Mattison, 24, and three unidentified men ranging in age from 20 to 22 – were taken to another hospital where they remain in stable condition.

The violent altercation began after Miu, whose group was further up the river, returned to find a “phone that was lost” while wearing snorkeling gear, his wife Sondra told investigators, according to the criminal complaint.

As he watched, Sondra said a “group of guys got out of their tubes and started hitting him.”

The group apparently accused Miu of “looking for little girls” and being a “child molester” after he snorkeled between two groups on each side of the river looking for the phone, according to a video viewed by the St. Croix DA’s Office. in Wisconsin.

The 20-somethings approached Miu after seeing him talking to a group of teenagers who looked “uncomfortable” as he reportedly asked about the number of “young girls.”

Speaking to DailyMail.com, Ryhley said: ‘I was tubing down the river with some friends when a few of them told us to stop because there was a group of kids who looked uncomfortable.

‘There was an older man there, so we stopped our tubes. The boys went to see what was going on and then some of my friends and I went there too,” she said. β€œThey explained that this older man asked these younger guys if they knew any younger women or could give him the numbers of younger women. It was creepy.

‘I don’t remember exactly if anyone said anything to him, or what exactly was said, but then he punched my friend straight in the face.

‘I don’t know if I said something that upset him more, but then I remember he turned around and stared at me and he put his hand on my stomach.

‘He looked like he wanted to punch me. I told my friend I think he punched me, and β€œoh my god, that hurt.”

‘I looked down and bled to death because he stabbed me. After that, all I remember is us trying to get away. ‘

According to the complaint, Mattison suffered an injury to his left side. She claimed that the other three injured people belonged to her group and that they did not know the teenager.

‘I was the first to be stabbed, and my other friend was cut open from the navel down. I have a punctured lung,” she told DailyMail.com. ‘The doctors had to open my stomach to repair my diaphragm and they stitched me up. I take a lot of pain medication.

Ryhley told DailyMail.com that she remembered feeling like she had been 'slapped' before shouting for someone to call the emergency services when she realized she had been stabbed. She was left with a punctured lung and a damaged diaphragm

“I think he had the knife between his fingers, I just saw I was bleeding and I screamed, call 911.”

Miu originally told police he removed the knife from tubers and fought in “self-defense,” but Sondra claimed the weapon was strapped to his belt.

The Public Prosecution Service said there was “so much blood in the river that the water took on a red tint in some places.”

During an interview, Miu told him he was “walking away” from the group and said Schuman’s group “produced two weapons.”

He claimed the group mocked him after he asked them if they had seen his friend’s phone and that one of the boys tried to “pull his suitcase down,” according to the complaint. Miu said he noticed that “the boy had a knife” and that someone else had a “longer knife” that looked like a kitchen knife.

The engineer said that during the altercation he “jabbed” the boy’s knife after twisting his arm. He claimed that “they attacked me” and that he was “in self-defense mode.”
