iPhone 16 will come without headline feature – risking disappointed buyers
Apple is reportedly set to launch its new iOS 18 in September, packed with updates but missing a major feature.
An expert claims that the release of the tech giant’s AI platform, known as Apple Intelligence, may be delayed until at least October, a month after the iPhone 16 hits the market.
Since the date has not passed, the new smartphone will miss out on the revamped Siri, custom emojis and new photo editing capabilities.
The delay is said to be due to Apple’s concerns over the stability of the AI features and to give developers enough time to test the software.
An expert has claimed that the iOS 18 system of the new iPhone 16 may lack some essential Apple Intelligence features, including ChatGPT integration and tools to improve writing skills
Apple announced its new operating system iOS 18 at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June. It was seen as the company’s “biggest” update to date.
Apple rolled out the beta test of the software on July 15 and will make it broadly available in late September, but final updates may not be available until mid-2025, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
However, Gurman claimed that the iOS 18 system will have some delayed features, including Siri not being able to use data on the device to answer queries.
Users would also be unable to prioritize important notifications, request summaries of web pages and voice notes, access tools to improve their writing style, and use OpenAI’s ChatGPT integration software.
This means that the iPhone 16 is the first model that does not have all the new features that are usually found in the iOS software. Users will therefore have to install an update just a few weeks after purchasing the phone.
The second update to iOS 18.1 is expected to be released in October, Gurman reported, but it will still be missing some key features, though he didn’t specify which ones.
According to Gurman, software updates will be rolled out from late 2024 through the first half of next year.
Other new features in iOS 18 include a customizable lock and home screen, a revamped Control Center, upgrades to Messages, and a dedicated Password app.
DailyMail.com has reached out to Apple for comment on the software delay.
The iPhone 16 will also get a design upgrade that will offer a new five-color palette in white, black, blue, green and pink, ditching the yellow and purple options that were originally rumored.
The iPhone 16 is also rumored to get a design upgrade, with a new five-color palette of white, black, blue, green, and pink. The originally rumored yellow and purple options have been scrapped.
There are also rumors that Apple will make a major redesign of the iPhone 16’s camera, marking the first time since 2013 that a new design has been made.
While Apple has yet to release any details about its upcoming smartphone, new leaks claim that the device will feature a dual-camera setup, with one dedicated to a wide and an ultra-wide field of view.
The delay comes after Apple on Monday released an emergency update to its iOS 17 system to fix 35 bugs that could allow hackers to gain access to your iPhone by installing malicious software and using apps to gain access to your location and other personal data.
This update applies to all iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and XR phones released in 2018 or later.
One of the security patches fixed a flaw in the iPhone’s operating system that could allow hackers to shut down the software and another flaw that could allow apps to ignore users’ privacy preferences.
There is reportedly no evidence yet that hackers have exploited these back-end vulnerabilities, but experts are warning users that they should take steps now to update their systems.
