Apple Intelligence’s custom AI emoji maker will be even faster and easier than we expected
We’ve been waiting to see how Apple Intelligence’s Genmoji feature works since Apple first unveiled it at WWDC in June.
Now we’ve finally gotten our first glimpse and it’s faster and easier than we expected. Apple has quietly updated its iPadOS 18 guide with steps on how to activate the custom AI emoji maker and if it works as seamlessly as it sounds, Genmoji will likely be a huge success.
According to Apple, “Simply tap the emoji icon, type a description of the image you want (for example, ‘Golden Retriever catches the best wave ever’), then tap ‘Create New Emoji.'”
We haven’t seen anyone try out this new Apple Intelligence feature, which is expected to arrive later this year as part of the iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 updates. Ryan Christopher at 9to5MacHowever, has used Genmoji and wrote the following about the experience: “Coincidentally, I was able to try out an early version of this walkthrough in action using a recent iOS beta.” He added: “My experience followed Apple’s description exactly, which proves how easy it will be to create new Genmoji.”
Finally some Genmoji information
It’s exciting to finally get some information about how Genmoji actually works, because I was starting to worry that Apple Intelligence’s messy launch, with no evidence of these features in action, could lead to another AirPower disaster.
The fact that Apple’s guides are being updated to reflect how to use the feature and that people outside of Apple have been making Genmojis for themselves means that we might actually get excited about making cowboy frogs in the very near future.
