Appalling video shows man shoot his partner’s son in front of her for taunting him – moments before gunman took his own life
Horrific footage shows the moment an enraged man shot and injured his partner’s son during an argument – before a dramatic confrontation with police ensued.
Kyle W Spitze, 24, was injured but survived and escaped, while gunman Jeffrey Scott West, 68, barricaded himself in the Tennessee home when SWAT showed up.
Officers can be seen trying to negotiate with him as he brandishes the firearm, but he is later found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot when police send in a K-9.
Filmed from Spitze’s perspective, the new footage shows him taking the bullet in his ear before frantically fleeing and waiting outside for officers.

The footage is new and shows what happened inside the Tennessee home before a more than two-hour police standoff
“I’m getting ready to blow his damn brains out!” Now damn it!’ the clips begin, with west shouting the threat while spitze is filming from his bed.
‘Blow my brains out? Shoot me and I guarantee you will go to prison for life,β the eventual victim replies, filming the older man standing in the doorframe.
Spitze’s mother, Melanie, struggles to de-escalate the situation and stands between the two men.
West, meanwhile, continues to wave and point the gun, pointing it at Spitze several times as he continues to film the clip in first-person.
The mother is then seen closing the door as Spitze continues filming.
Through the closed door, her love interest shouts, βI’m tired of his shit!β – after which Spitze gets up and opens the door and the conflict resumes.
“Are you going to blow my mother’s brains out?” he shouts, as the argument spills into a hallway on Quarry Hollow Road.
In the meantime, Spitze continues filming, while his 60-year-old mother tries to keep the men apart. West, still furious, points the gun at Spitze several more times.

βPoint that gun at me again,β Spitze says at this point, apparently under the pretense that West was of sound mind not to actually pull the trigger.
However, that suspicion ultimately proved incorrect, as evidenced by the loud ‘pop’ that followed and the unmistakable flash of gunfire.
Still filming, Spitze steps back and silently surveys the room.
A period of eerie silence follows, during which Spitze still seems to be thinking about what has just happened.
His mother then gasps – as several drops of blood fall onto the wooden floor.
‘Oh my God! You’re going to jail,β she continues to shout, as West walks away β and Spitze begins to realize what has happened.
A panic attack quickly develops, with the victim frantically rushing to the back door of the house.

After the shot, several drops of Spitze’s blood fall onto the wooden floor of the house.
He quickly makes it and starts looking through the reflective glass of the door to see the damage.
The segment ends there, but statements from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office tell the rest of the story.
They revealed how, after the gun went off, Spitze and his mother soon reconvened outside.
The pair then called 911, which brought officers to the scene around 8:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found Spitze and his mother outside and immediately gave the victim the first breath of air.
Once he was stabilized, he told officers that he and West had gotten into an argument inside the house and that the suspect with the gun was still inside.
Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiations and SWAT officers eventually arrived on the scene and began attempting to negotiate with West with the goal of forcing him to surrender.
However, those efforts failed after about two and a half hours, and officers eventually dispatched a single K-9 just before 11 p.m., police said in a statement.
Once inside, the animal was able to signal to officers that West was dead, after which investigators went inside to find the man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officers would later confirm that West had committed suicide and that Spitze had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the right ear.
His condition remains unknown as of Tuesday, but newly surfaced images of the encounter continue to circulate.
