Appalling moment Amazon driver flees scene after hitting mom walking with her four-month-old baby and dog

An Amazon delivery driver was reportedly caught on camera running over a mother with her four-month-old child and her dog before fleeing the scene.

Disturbing footage obtained by WPLG shows the unidentified 30-year-old mother pushing her son in a stroller and walking her dog in the crosswalk at the intersection of Northeast 7th Avenue and Northeast 191st Street in Miami shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 22.

When the woman was about halfway across the intersection, a gray SUV could be seen driving toward her, with the screaming mother attached to it.

The impact of the crash also caused the stroller, with the baby still in it, to fall to the ground. Miami police report.

The suspect, identified by police as 45-year-old Sarah Naybeth Parra Ovalles, was later seen walking toward the overturned stroller, righting it at the intersection and walking away.

According to police, Ovalles arrived at the Isles Estate neighborhood and identified herself at the gate as an Amazon delivery person.

A security guard then took photos of her driver’s license and license plates before letting her into the gated community, This was reported by CBS News.

Ovalles then pulled over several times before reportedly veering into the wrong lane, hitting the mother and her child.

“She hit the lady. She dragged the lady for about 10 seconds,” a neighbor said told WSVN.

Cassie Kress, another neighbor, said she heard the baby “screaming.”

“It was very intense. Then we heard a horn,” she said.

Kress, a nurse, said she ran to help the mother and child before Miami-Dade Fire Department arrived and took them to a local hospital.

The mother was treated for a skull fracture, bruises and a brain hemorrhage, while her son suffered a cut to his forehead, NBC Miami reports.

Police said they were eventually able to identify Ovalles as the perpetrator after interviewing the gatekeeper and a witness, who said she was inside her home when she heard the child’s cries and the honking of a car.

The witness stated she then looked out the window and saw a woman wearing an Amazon Prime vest standing next to a gray SUV and looking around.

Just seconds later, the witness saw the woman get back into the SUV and drive away.

The next day, Ovalles was called to the Miami-Dade police station for questioning. During the questioning, she admitted that she had been making deliveries in the area and had seen the victims.

But she claimed she was just driving alongside them and saw the mother appear “not in the right mind” and “put her hands on the hood of her car.”

Ovalles said she asked the woman if she was OK, to which the mother nodded and drove away.

When police showed her video of the accident, Ovalles denied being the driver and invoked her right to an attorney.

Ovalles now faces two charges of leaving the scene of an accident, one of which resulted in serious bodily injury.

She was seen crying in court as she was charged with her crime, but has since been released after posting bail, WSVN reports.

“This is a terrible incident and our thoughts are with the family,” an Amazon spokesperson said afterward, noting that Ovalles “no longer delivers on behalf of Amazon.”

Meanwhile, the baby is back home, but his mother is still in the hospital. According to the neighbors, she is in a lot of pain.
