NSW businesses go under owing $26million

  • NSW companies went bust earlier this year as their debt levels grew

A bankrupt group of construction companies now has $26 million in debt, while customers are forced to pay thousands of dollars out of their own pockets.

Earlier this year, a number of companies under the Apollo Group went bust in quick succession, including the large Western Sydney joinery Apollo Kitchens, with debts to creditors reaching $23 million.

But another $3.3 million in debt has now been found, bringing the total to more than $26 million.

One of the many customers, 62-year-old Veronica, told news.com.au she paid more than $14,000 for a new kitchen shortly before the company went bust and has still not received anything.

Apollo Kitchens (NSW) and Brownlen Pty Ltd, the head office of the Apollo Group, both went into administration in March, leaving almost 100 people – factory workers and office staff – out of jobs.

One staff member publicly complained that he had not received a pension payment since the end of 2022.

More to come.
