Apex Homes Australia collapses: Victoria-based construction company is ordered into liquidation

  • The Melbourne-based construction company went bankrupt this week

A Victorian construction company has gone bankrupt, leaving the fate of a raft of projects up in the air.

After a lengthy process, North Melbourne-based Apex Homes Australia was ordered into liquidation by the High Court on Wednesday on grounds of insolvency.

Creditors include a concrete company, Aerolink Property Group, which filed for liquidation earlier this year citing an unpaid $46,200 debt owed to the company.

Other companies that have filed a claim against the company include Home and Industrial Soil, Austral Group, ATC Co, the Commissioner of State Revenue and Bristol Roofing.

BDO has been appointed as liquidator of the company. Clearly, there are more than a dozen projects that the company has built partly on its books.

One customer complained that his site had been ‘sitting there with just the slab and framework’ for two years on a Facebook group.

Another customer told news.com.au they were concerned for staff affected by the company’s collapse, but were also relieved the saga had come to an end.

“While we are disappointed that this has happened and we feel for the employees and staff, at least our family can now put the stress of the past 12 months behind them,” they said.
