Apalachee High School shooting: Suspect in custody after opening fire on Barrow County campus in Georgia

Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning following an active shooter situation.
The high school, which has about 1,900 students, is located 40 kilometers west of Athens.
The Burrow County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that multiple victims have been reported and one person has been arrested.

Multiple agencies, including FBI, respond to school shooting
The FBI Atlanta office said: “FBI Atlanta is aware of the current situation at Apalachee High School in Barrow County. Our agents are on scene working with and supporting local law enforcement.”
The Georgia State Police and the Burrow County Sheriff’s Office are also among the law enforcement agencies on site
One suspect arrested after shooting
Several media outlets have reported that one suspect has been arrested after the lockdown at the high school
The sheriff’s office reported, “One suspect was in custody at the time of this release. Victims have also been reported, but details on the number of victims and their conditions are not available at this time.”
The school district has told parents they can pick up their children

Governor Brian Kemp has responded to the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder in Barrow County, 25 miles west of Athens.
Police have confirmed they are looking for an active shooter.
