AOC Says Biden’s Age Doesn’t Matter Because Trump ‘Has 91 Charges’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (pictured) (DN.Y.) defended President Joe Biden, 81, amid a slew of criticism questioning his mental acuity and suitability for a second term. Biden’s own Justice Department released a report last week following a special counsel investigation into the president’s case involving classified documents. It acknowledged Biden’s “significantly impaired” memory and noted that he has “diminished capabilities.”
Despite this, AOC still says Biden is better suited for office than former President Donald Trump, who faces 91 charges in four different cases.
The progressive lawmaker insisted Biden has accomplished more than most presidents in recent history. “I know who I’m going to choose (as president): it’s going to be one of the most successful presidents in modern American history,” Ocasio-Cortez said in an interview with CNN host Jake Tapper on Tuesday.
She added, “(He) approved the inflation relief that gave us the American Rescue Plan that allowed us to pass one of the largest federal investments in climate change in U.S. history.”
Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report confirms concerns many have expressed over the past year as Biden continues his reelection campaign and is on track for a rematch with Trump in 2024.
Hur recommended no charges against Biden in the classified documents case, claiming one of his reasons was that the president would come across to a jury “as a likable, well-meaning, older man with a bad memory.”
A poll released Sunday shows that 86 percent of voters think Biden is too old to serve another term. And 62 percent think the same about Trump, 77.
“I think right now, when it comes to the president’s age, people are talking about how he’s 81,” AOC told CNN. ‘But first of all we have to look at the fact that Donald Trump is approximately the same age. They could have gone to high school together.”
“And on top of that, Donald Trump has 91 charges,” she added.
“President Biden will be the Democratic nominee, and hopefully he will be re-elected as president of the United States.”
