ANZ is among a number of banks affected by an outage, with some customers experiencing problems accessing their accounts online.
The Big Four bank confirmed that “intermittent issues” had been reported with its goMoney app and online banking services in New Zealand.
An ANZ spokesperson apologized for the inconvenience and said the bank was working quickly to resolve the issue.
Bendigo Bank has also been affected in Australia as customers have difficulty accessing its phone app and e-banking services.
“We are aware that our app and internet banking are currently unavailable,” said a spokeswoman for the bank.
“Our teams are working to restore service as quickly as possible.”
Social media users, who are Bendigo Bank customers, were outraged.
“Bendigo Bank has ruined Christmas,” one person wrote.
Another said: ‘Pathetic!!’
“This is happening more and more with the Bendigo Bank app,” added a third.

Others said they are considering moving their operations elsewhere because they have encountered the problem several times.
The technical problem has left many customers in rural communities without access to essential banking services.
‘I’m in a country town where they don’t have any [branch] so I’m stuck,” one person wrote.
Others said they were having trouble paying for gas at a local gazebo.
Some said the issue could derail planned festivities and family gatherings ahead of Christmas Day on Wednesday.
‘If I don’t [trek] When we go to town soon there will be no more Christmas lunch in this house,” one irate person wrote.
