Anya Taylor-Joy announces production has wrapped on the long-awaited post-apocalyptic movie Furiosa

Anya Taylor-Joy announced she wrapped up the production on Furiosa with a post shared on her Instagram account on Thursday.

The 26-year-old artist shared a trio of photos taken during her time on the set of the upcoming film, including director George Miller.

The actress will star as the character of the same name, previously played by Charlize Theron, in the film.

Taylor-Joy also wrote a message in the caption of her post, beginning by expressing, “What. A . Riteeee.’

The Peaky Blinders actress then spoke about her appreciation for the hard work the film crew put into the project.

‘Thank you to those of the wasteland – the madmen who ran amok with me in this land. The cutest, the most resilient, the most talented,” she wrote.

Taylor-Joy then noted that she had matured tremendously during the production process.

“It was an honor and a privilege to create with all of you… thank you for making me stronger than I ever thought I could be,” she wrote.

The performer ended her message by writing, “Fire, blood and guzzoline, Furianya.”

Furiosa’s development was teased in 2020 and Taylor-Joy is said to have been in talks to star in the position that year.

The film will serve as a prequel to the critically acclaimed 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road, which introduced the character.

The film follows the heroine as she faces a conflict between two warlords trying to control the wasteland.

It was revealed that in October Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II were cast in the role, although the latter dropped out and was replaced by Tom Burke.

Nathan Jones and Angus Sampson, who played Rictus Erectus and the Organic Mechanic in Mad Max: Fury Road, will return to their old roles.

The physical production of the project started last July at various locations in Australia.

Taylor-Joy talked about working on Furiosa during an interview with Varietywhere she expressed her admiration for the director of the project.

‘I feel so lucky and privileged to spend time with [Miller]and to grow beside him,’ she said.

The performer also pointed out that she was looking forward to playing a physically strenuous role.

‘I’m also really looking forward to doing something physical. Becoming physically different is something that, strangely enough, will give me a lot of peace. I’m really excited to work hard,” she explained.

Furiosa was originally set to be released on June 23, 2023, although it was later delayed.

The highly anticipated film will now be made available to the public on May 24, 2024.
