Antiques Roadshow’s ‘youngest ever’ guest left shocked over massive value of genie lamp-style teapot

A schoolboy was shocked by the value of his ghost lamp at Antiques Roadshow.

The youngster appeared on the BBC’s Sunday Teatime when it arrived at Roundhay Park in Leeds, where he brought with him a silver teapot he found on the side of the road in a box marked ‘free’.

The boy – who is believed to be the youngest ever guest on the long-running series – did not reveal his name, but the antique teapot was marked with the letter G, his initial.

Expert Lagina Austin revealed more about the history of the teapot, explaining: ‘It’s what they call a demitasse pot, which would be used for coffee rather than tea. And this was probably part of a set.

‘And the G behind it is probably a family name of the person this once belonged to. You’re right about it being sterling silver.’
