Anti-police activist begs for help after thieves stole U-Haul truck with ‘everything’ she owns… and the response is brutal

A “defund the police” advocate was left pleading for help finding a stolen moving van after her U-Haul was picked up by thieves on the streets of San Francisco.

Darcie Bell, who goes by Jerque Cousteau on X, posted a call for help finding the truck when it was stolen on December 7.

“Hey guys. If you see a 26-foot U-Haul truck with Arizona license plate AL50003, please let me know because it had everything I own on it,” Bell said.

“It was stolen near Noe and Market and fun fact: @uhaul doesn’t put GPS on their trucks and thieves apparently know this.”

The rental company responded to the post and informed the anti-police activist that she should report the crime to the police.

‘If you have not already done so, please contact local authorities to report this matter. Be sure to contact us to forward the police report to the Equipment Recovery Department,” U-Haul said.

Critics were quick to point out the irony that Bell needed police, given its history of reporting on the need to defund them.

“Anti-cop asking for police help, peak in clown world,” said one.

“I never thought the leopards would eat my face,” said another.

“The funniest part about this is that a vehement proponent of ‘defund the police’ now needs the police. Classic,” a third person said.

‘Haha! Defund the Police Darcie suddenly wants criminals to stop committing crimes when it’s her business. So rich,” a fourth person said.

Users resurfaced in her posts calling for the police to be defunded after she complained that police were not helping her.

“Defunding the police is actually a good thing. We pay them a lot to do less,” Bell wrote on October 4.

In May 2022, she said: “When we went into lockdown and people had time to get angry and organize, we took to the streets to demand justice. Lots of promises to defund the police that never happened.

“No matter how bad this pandemic gets, it will never give us the opportunity to do that again. They will always give priority to the police.’

Bell berated police for not immediately finding the truck and demanded U-Haul file a report.

‘I haven’t found my thing! The police did nothing! U-Haul made me file a police report!” she said The New York Post.

‘There are cameras everywhere in the city. They didn’t do anything… I just want my stuff back!’

According to data from the San Francisco Police Department, as of December 1, 4,985 motor vehicle thefts and 19,013 thefts were reported.
