Anti-Israel protesters and institutions are ‘indoctrinating’ young Americans in a ‘moral monstrosity’, warns Democrat Congressman – as he asks: ‘What kind of society are we becoming?
New York Democratic Representative Ritchie Torres wrote an op-ed that woke up Democratic Socialists and institutions to the brainwashing of young people with anti-Israel rhetoric after the Hamas terror attack.
In his essay, the congressman representing the Bronx called out pro-Palestine groups that blamed Israel for the Oct. 7 attack that killed more than 1,400 Israelis.
‘Can you imagine anything more callous and cruel than telling that grieving mother: You’ve got it coming. You and your people have brought terror upon you,’ Torres wrote for the New York Post.
‘These were the shocking sentiments of the New York City Democratic Socialists of America (NYC-DSA), who wasted no time in holding a hate rally romanticized as “resistance”.’

‘Israel’s ideological enemies here in the US found cause for celebration at the sight of dead Jews.’
‘The ONLY morally acceptable response to such incomprehensible terror is overwhelming outrage at the boundless barbarity of Hamas.’

Torres called out his fellow congressmen and national leaders who refused to condemn antisemitism.
“The time has come to confront not only the symptoms, but also the disease: a Democratic Socialist industrial complex indoctrinating young Americans with an anti-Israel hatred so violent as to render them indifferent to the deadliest carnage of Jews since the Holocaust,” said. congressman
“Something is rotten in the state of America. When the institutional leaders in our country cannot condemn the cold-blooded murder of Israeli children and civilians with moral clarity, one must ask: what kind of society are we becoming?’
Torres called out the education system that promoted anti-Israel rhetoric. Since the attack, colleges and universities have faced intense scrutiny over responses, or lack thereof.
He said the anti-Israel extremism is a failure aided and abetted by spineless leaders from public officials to university presidents.
At the University of California Berkeley, the group Bears for Palestine expressed their support for Hamas just hours after their attack on Israel.
“Anti-Israel hatred and hysteria have been allowed to vent freely in academia, social media, the political arena and elsewhere,” Torres said.
“The anti-Israel hatred increasingly possessing the American mind is a demon that must be cast out of our body politic. Because America cannot long remain a decent society if the next generation of Americans is made to be indifferent to the barbaric slaughter of Israeli civilians and children.’

Some House Democrats, including Ritchie’s fellow New York representative, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the ‘Squad,’ have called for a ceasefire and even to cut off US aid to Israel.
In his essay, Torres made it clear he stands firm in his support for Israel.
“I, for one, stand with Israel as it tries to defend itself. Despite the deep pain of the present, Israel will emerge from it better and stronger than ever before,’ Torres said.
‘Resilience is the DNA and destiny of the Jewish people and the Jewish State. It always has been and always will be. I am as sure of that as I am of anything. Am Yisrael Chai.’
