Anthony Joshua has hinted at a return to the ring with a twitter post of him back in his old gym with the caption ‘far from where it ends.’

The Brit failed to win back his world titles from Oleksandr Usyk in their fight in Jeddah earlier this month, leaving the future unclear for the two-time heavyweight world champion.

He was visibly distressed after the fight, giving a incoherent speech in the ring and later apologising in a tearful press conference.

Joshua appeared to be in better spirits on Monday as he posted a picture of him sat on the ring in his old gym.

The caption read: ‘Back to where it started, far from where it ends, I love this game.’

He had previously been seen playing chess in Saudi Arabia, and his other recent tweets had offered apologies for his behaviour after the fight.

He said: ‘I’ll be the first to admit, I let my self down. I acted out of pure passion and emotion and when not controlled it ain’t great. I love this sport so so much and I’ll be better from this point on.’

Joshua appeared to hint at a return to the ring by claiming he is ‘far from the end’

‘I wish Oleksandr Usyk continued success in your quest for greatness. You are a class act champ.

‘Yesterday I had to mentally take myself into a dark place to compete for the championship belts! I had two fights, one with Usyk and one with my emotions and both got the better of me.’

For Usyk, his attention will now be on a potential fight with Tyson Fury that would unify the heavyweight belts.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the fight could take place in the first three months of 2023.
