An Australian man is fighting for his life in Thailand after being involved in a horrific motorcycle accident.

Anthonie Trejo, 34, from Melbourne, was driving through a rural area in the Southeast Asian country earlier this week when he was seriously injured in a crash.

He was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to a facility in Bangkok, where he remains in a coma.

“Right now his left leg is amputated and he has a punctured lung in which they found 6-7 pieces of metal, other broken bones and internal bleeding,” a friend wrote on Facebook.

“He’s on a ventilator. They don’t know yet if he has suffered brain damage, because he is too vulnerable for a CT scan at the moment.”

A GoFundMe was set up to bring him home and support his family, who have traveled to the Southeast Asian country to be with him.

The fundraiser has already raised more than $50,000 of its $100,000 goal since it launched on Wednesday.

“Anthonie will require a number of major, life-saving procedures due to complications. These procedures will understandably incur costs,” it said.

“Thank you for your continued support, it is needed now more than ever. Your continued prayers for his recovery are also most welcome.”

Trejo is a professional fighter who has competed on many shows in Australia and abroad.

He is trained in Mixed Martial Arts, including Muay Thai boxing.

His mother Adriana Carranza, who flew to Thailand, sent a message on Saturday thanking everyone for their support.

“He is in a very bad way right now,” she wrote on Facebook.

“I ask that you continue to pray for him.”
