Ant Middleton has revealed he was an ’emotional wreck’ when he climbed K2.

The former SAS: Who Dares Wins presenter ventured up the world’s second highest mountain, and despite previously tackling Everest, he admitted K2 was the ‘hardest’ of the two.

Speaking to Amanda Holden and JK on Heart Breakfast, Ant admitted he ‘didn’t really enjoy’ the grueling feat.

He said: ‘K2 is the most technical, and if you’ve done both it’s definitely the hardest of the eight thousand. Anything above eight thousand meters, that is, in the death zone, and K2 is definitely the right one.

‘And if you climb K2, you are certainly hardened as a mountain climber. And I did it in nineteen days, not acclimatized. That was a bit stupid. It’s called an aggressive climb, so I didn’t really enjoy it. I was an emotional wreck; I was a physical wreck.”

When asked by Amanda if he cried, he confirmed: ‘I did a little bit, yes. Yes, I did.’

In response, the Britain’s Got Talent judge joked: “K2 broke Ant Middleton, there’s your head.”

Ant has filmed his grueling climb for his new documentary Killer K2 and insisted he ‘definitely shed a few tears’ during production.

When JK joked that he could hear the “dramatic music” and Amanda could see him “curled up in a ball” on the mountain, he said he probably wouldn’t “go that far with it.”

In a trailer, he explained, “There’s not much that doesn’t confuse me in life, there’s not much that I don’t want to commit to.

‘It is the most dangerous mountain in the world. It’s known as the widow maker!’

Billed as one of the “toughest challenges” he has ever faced, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant noted that the whole thing had been an “emotional rollercoaster” for him.

In an Instagram post, he joked that he had “aged 20 years” during the process and that the whole thing had been a “race against time” for him.

In 2018, Ant climbed Mount Everest and revealed at the time that he “almost died” during the adventure.

He was forced to wait in the death zone behind a line of people for several hours when 70 mph winds caused a whiteout.

The former Special Boat Service sniper said there were too many people who did not know what they had gotten themselves into on the mountain in Nepal.

He said, “Everyone was just shouting, ‘Get off the mountain, get off the mountain, you’re going to die!’ You can imagine the panic situation. It was just an absolute disaster up there.

“I remember looking at this guy hanging upside down and other people being blown away and thinking, ‘I’m not getting off this mountain.’ It was the only moment in my life where I thought, ‘I’m dead.’
